Hi advice please. Have stage 4 endo am having a full hysterectomy in 2 mths but keep reading on here about people with pain from their ovaries/ bowel etc etc how do people tell exactly where the pain is coming from. I have an endo belly but more swollen on right side and the pain is mainly on right side of belly back and bum. Extreme pain most days but how do I tell where it's from ovaries etc???

Hi Trudie,

Im sorry to hear of your diagnosis and severity of endo.

From what I have learned to understand about endometriosis is that symptoms are different for everyone, growing more severe in many places around the body.

When I experience ovary pain, the pain can be a dull nagging feeling around the lower left side of pelvis. I also experience random sharp pains in that area that no other pain from any other organ has given me. Sharp Ovary pain I feel is like a knife going in giving an electric shock type pain.

A bowel pain wouldnt feel the same. You kind of know bowel related pains around the colon for example, When having a bad stomach etc or needing to get to the toilet quick type pain.

This might be different for others.

I didnt want to leave your question unanswered. I hope this helps.

THANKYOU Yeh kind of . Um think so have so many different pains from different areas my poor body don't know what's going on. Swear blind something else is going on apart from the endo last blood test showed I had an elevated white blood cell count which means I'm fighting an infection or a disease but doc said not too worry. Hmmmm just confused with what pain is what and whether it's endo pain or something else happening. Still got another 2 mths too wait for hysterectomy xx

I don't think it's easy to know always where pain is coming from, I had a hysterectomy 5 months ago and have found little change in pain. I was hoping the pain was from adenomyosis but this isn't the case. X

Great answer plus just adding pain when you cough, this always hit me in the "sore right ovary" like a knife and would make me literally jump or wince.

Ive also felt pain when I cough at excision sites (ive had a c section plus laparoscopies)

And now my organs are gone (totsl hysterectomy) pain on coughing has returned for me in areas like excision site wounds or possibly where adhesions were/are.

This has only returned after 8 months post surgery, up until now I could cough pain free.

Im suspecting my endo on my bowel is back.

Im on both estrogen and progesterone hrt and suspect at a cellular level the endometrial cells have been fed and have grown.

Sad to say but its just what I suspect.

Yet Im so much more free of symptoms its no where near as painful more like dull aches, manageable and no more bleeding, clotting and 3 days a month in bed.

Good luck

Helly. X
