I’m assuming you’re in the UK, have you called 111? You should be able to speak to or see a GP.
Speak to the pharmacist, the only other thing for over the counter is a low dose Naproxen for period pain. There aren’t many in a box and they’ll only give you one box. You can’t take ibuprofen if they do allow you to purchase as they are both anti inflammatory medicine.
I am yep! I'm going to call the GP today and discuss. I really don't want to take pain relief but my gynae appt (over the telephone) isn't until 27th August!
My Husband went to the pharmacy and pharmacist advised they have nothing to recommend other than paracetamol and ibuprofen
Bit of an ignorant pharmacist, you can get a very low dose cocodamol as well. It might have been because it was for someone else, but I’ve bought pain relief for others .
I don’t like taking it either. Let us know how you get on.
Definitely call 111 for more advice! Sounds pretty harsh ☹️. When I’ve completely run out of Zapain or don’t have anything with me, I’ll buy co-codamol 8mg/500mg from behind a pharmacy counter or Paramol which is paracetamol and a little dihydrocodeine which works quite well on my nagging pain days!
Bare in mind I’m no health professional and you should ask OTC if it’s safe for you to take. ☺️ xx
This sounds silly, but ha s you tried those heat patches for period pain you buy on Amazon? They are like £4 for 3 and last 12 hours, you just stick them on x
Buy a TENS machine or google Livia Device. They help me manage my pain, plus meds and a wrap around hot water bottle. The Livia device is pretty effective for evil cramping (for me anyway). I think they’re available now on Amazon. Don’t buy from USA, they sting you with a huge customs fee. Nina.
111 are good and a gp should be able to send you some stronger medication, over the counter I use something I think is called sumatripan (or something along those lines) which contains 12mg of codeine per tablet and you can take 2 at a time, I hope you feel better and get it sorted! Xx
My daughter uses an electric massager and it helps tremendously. She has suffered for years with endo and used to faint with the pain as there was so many adhesions the surgeon was unable to remove a lot of it. She also takes co-codamol if she is desperate but avoids painkillers as much as possible.
Just a word of warning with a lot of the meds that are being banged about. A lot of them can cause constipation which is the last thing you want. Do try the TENS machines or Livia device. On “rare” occasions I’ve been able to get by with just the device and not the meds. Bit of a game changer for some ladies with extra severe cramping. Nina
I'm now on cocodomol and naproxen. The day I started to take both, the next day I felt really weird and funny!! Also my asthma started to worsen so I'm going to stick to just cocodomol for a while!!
