I'm just wondering if anyone has had a scan for ovarian cists before a lap..and it came back clear..but they found cists while doing a lap? I'm asking as I had a internal and external scan..it came back clear..but I'm getting alot of pain on my left ovary so I'm wondering if there is one that they didn't pick up on! Any help would be great x

Hi, I had an internal ultrasound a few hours before surgery and they didn't see anything, following my surgery they told me they found a 6cm cyst on each ovary, one of which had ruptured. From what I understand ultrasounds accuracy can vary massively depending on a number of things such as the equipment and experience of the practitioner. Since then I've had an MRI with contrast that showed other smaller cysts but a lap is really the only way to know for sure. I hope your consultant helps you find an answer. Good luck X
