Hi Just want some advice before I call gp. How do you know if you have endo on bowel? Have been diagnosed with endo and am having a hysterectomy soon but recently noticed pain in other areas back passage bum lower back and kidney area in my back when I go too toilet I bleed from my bum and I'm continuously spotting aswell. Have mirena coil have monthly zoladex and livial aswell. I take zapain for the pain. Also one last thing is it doing my body further damage by taking so many painkillers etc? I'm sorry but can't take much more it's always something on top of something else

Hi

In short yes you can have endo on bowel as I have. I have mirena too and last week started bleeding (bright red) with bowel movements. I’m off for camera up bum next Monday and blood tests all clear. I know from mri I had at beginning of year I have bowel fused to ovary which may well require surgery if symptoms get worse so I get pain and bleeding now are those symptoms.

Do you have an Endo specialist nurse at your clinic you could chat to? I find mine really approachable and she has discussed issues with gynae on my behalf, arranged appts and generally supported me in between surgeries and appts.

Don’t despair, I have felt it’s always one thing on top of something else and I hope you have good support around you?

Sending you lots of positivity x

Hi that all sounds painful the only way to tell is through lap surgery, I had one and they said I had endo I suspected it on my bowels I even had an endoscopy scan and nothing was seen it was only when they went in a second time and had a more extensive look that they discovered it on my bowels, I think it’s something you have to push for but is worth it hope this gets sorted for you x

Hi trudie. It can be really hard for them to pick up the endo on/in the bowels depending on where it is and how extensive it is. But you should absolutely just keep going back to them and being assertive about all of your symptoms so they keep looking into it. They should want to know to the best of their ability where all of the disease is and how t us effecting you before they go in for the surgery. It might mean they choose to have a colorectal Surgeon involved in the procedure or on stand by. Don’t give up. It is such a frustrating and draining condition we live with and it feels so unfair we always have to fight for everything. But we just do. So keep telling them about any new or changing symptoms, useful to keep a diary so you can be more specific when you talk to them about when you bleed, how much, what pain, etc. Best of luck
