I normally use naproxen 500mg, it seems to help a little more and it is better for you stomach and reduces acid reflux that I get with ibuprofen or codeine phosphate - but this can bung you up so that has to be used carefully, plus standard, hot water bottle. I also drink mint tea which helps me or at leasts distracts me for a short while. Also make sure you ask for lansoprazole or other stomach protection agent if your taking daily pain relief, as after 10 years of doing this - my GP just told that should have be prescribed all along. Hope you find some relief soon x
Pleased to hear they got all your visible Endo. Iāve had my ovaries suspended after surgery and while itās not pleasant, and can add to your post surgery pain, I hope it helps to know it can definitely help in limiting adhesions post surgery. After excision of Endo you can have very raw areas and that is obviously prone to āstickingā After my first excision surgery, I had really bad adhesions and my left side which is had most excision work done & was actually in a worse state 6 months post surgery as my ovary stuck soon after to my tube running from my kidney to bladder and my womb too. By the time I had my next surgery the ovary was embedded in scar tissue and adhesions, I do believe when I had my ovaries stitched that there was less chance of things sticking so quickly again, so I hope that helps to know that not many surgeons do this but itās definitely shown to limit adhesions. I found stretching out with my feet up fully on the sofa reduced pain slightly rather than sitting scrunching up sitting. The only painkillers I found helpful were Tramadol which you obviously need to be careful with as they can get addictive, but I found I could control taking them and only use them when Iām really struggling, they just drop the pain right back to a more manageable level. Paracetamol/Panadeine did absolutely nothing for me either, you really need an anti inflammatory or stronger to get on top of the pain when itās bad, you just have to be sensible and onlyvreach for the very strong ones when you really need them.
Wishing u all the best post surgery, Iāve had a long road fighting Endo with different surgeons worldwide and still battle on, but if I can help with anything let me know!
Hope youāre on the road to recovery quickly and Iām sure youāll feel a lot brighter once your ovaries are released as you do get a horrid pulling feeling post surgery.
