Should I have another coil?!

Hello,

I’m asking for a bit of advice (AGAIN!). Can anyone tell I’m past the frustrated point and want something done?!

So basically:

I’ve had 2 Laps (exactly a year apart) - both removed endo and one inserted coil aswell.

when I had the coil inserted the surgeon perforated my womb and I had to have surgery to remove the coil from being connected to my bowels... I had complications after with infected wounds & womb - which I’m still currently on antibiotics after 7 days in hospital in July (doctor thinks the infection didn’t fully go).

So basically she’s advised I have another coil fitted which has obviously left me anxious due to the previous experience. It’s my GP who has advised this however my consultant has told me this isn’t an option.

My 2 things are:

1) should I go against what my consultant said and get it done? - it would be at my local sexual health clinic therefore he wouldn’t know about it.

2) has anyone had a coil horror story followed by a success? I don’t want to have to go through all of this again!

Sorry for the essay, I am past the point of being able to manage this pain!

xo

I’m sorry for what you are going through. I can’t share the experience, but I would not advise ping against the consultant. Your gp is that general practice they know a little about a lot, but the consultants specialise so know a great deal about their niche area. I would only with their advice in my opinion, or at least take their advice and agree to differ, after a debate with them.
