Hi, I was given one 3 month injection of Prostap which ran out 6 weeks ago. I experienced some hair loss but my biggest problem has been joint pain, my ankles, knee and fingers feel odd. My GP took a lot of bloods and they came back normal with no signs of inflammatory disease. How long in your experience does it take for this drug to leave the system and joint pain cease. As i am 51 years old the GP wants an FSH test to see if I have gone into menopause and also a Vit D blood test. I feel about 100 years old. this is horrible.

Hi,

A three month depo, as it says on the tin will be active for the 3months, I would say by 6wks post finishing it, things should be starting to get back to normal and totally without any side effects after 3 months - 6 months at absolute most. I was told 2-3 months max for 1 month depot and that was accurate. I felt ok again after 6wks or so but my main side effect was depression.

Bear in mind, as your gp says, at your age this could be actual menopause. Also common alongside endometriosis/in 50s - arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis which can all cause joint pain. Make sure the gp is considering these as well. X
