Hello, I wanted to ask, I have been going through a very long slow process of seeing specialist and different doctors and have been put on countless birth control pills to try to help regulate and level me out. But after all these years Of being told they think it’s endomitriosis I have finally been given a date for a laparoscopy, I’m thrilled to be getting it done after all this time in and out of pain and bleeding, im nervous also never had a surgery.. but mainly I’m starting to question myself and my history and worry it’s going to come back that there isn’t any and it’s all ok.. I mean that would be great don’t get me wrong but I know I’m not crazy and this pain is real, I am doubting myself and worrying what if it’s all in my head.. everyone will think I’m mad, what is wrong with me if it’s not Endo? I’m just kinda having a melt down now after all this time I’m getting the diagnostic opp and I’m freaking out what if it’s not what they think.. has any one else felt this way starting to drive yourself Mad with worry dreaming about it, or even gone in and been told it’s not.. what happens then? More test and exams, sorry for rant thanks for listening. Sian

Hi Hun,

Don’t worry, so many have us have been through this stage. We have fought so very hard for answers that when it comes to finding out, we are scared to know the result. I was constantly reasssured before my laparoscopy that 50% of women don’t actually find anything during the procedure and that only 1 in 2 actually find endometriosis. This does not mean that if they don’t find anything that the pain isn’t real. It just rules out another method of testing and they can look into nerve pain etc. It’s one step closer to ruling out another method of diagnosis or treatment.

If they don’t find anything you just need to keep on pushing for further treatment, it’s so important to be an advocate for your own health. Everyone is different, take each day as it comes and cross that bridge if it comes to it. Push for a referal to somewhere such as a local pelvic pain unit. There are always options for you Hun, don’t give up.
