Hi Everyone

I’m due to have my 4th laparoscopy on 28th Aug I have my pre opp assessment on Monday.

Following my last laparoscopy my Gynecologist said it got to dangerous for him to remove any more legions off my bowel and next time would need a bowel surgeon in the operation with him so that’s happening on the 28th.

Ive never had to do bowel prep before so woundering what to expect?

They have also prepared me that I may have a colostomy bag fitted best case temporary worse case permanently does this effect people like I’m expecting it to?

Any advice welcome x

Bowel prep is ok I had to follow a plan, reduction of certain types of food then clear fluids and I also had to drink some build up drinks. It is exhausting I must admit and you go to loads loads.

My surgeon has said similar and it’s been the one thing that has put me off bigger surgery until now. He said The risk of colostomy is usually very low but they tell us as a just encase. The bowel can’t get too thin as it can leak into the abdomen and make you very sick. Sadly for me I’m a nurse and scare myself as I almost know too much. I have posted on here before about it and I’ve had reply’s from a lot of people who have had ‘bowel shaves’ and ‘resections’ and no one has had a colostomy. I wish you loads luck and best wishes for your surgery. Xx

Thank you for the reassurance, it’s going to be a good bank holiday Monday ha. I was the same but the point I’m at now think I would rather have that then the constant daily pain. X
