Hi! I was described this for heavy painful periods about 20 year's ago!! It's a fantastic drug!! And so is metformin also given to diabetics but a very helpful drug in treating POS!!!
I take mefenamic acid & transexamic acid together on my worst period days. They are amazing for pain relief & making my periods less heavy. I can’t use birth control pills as we are ttc! Glad they are effective for you too xoxo
My Dr has stopped prescribing me Mefenamic acid because of the cost. I spent a whole weekend in agony in bed since they changed me to tranexamic acid.. and was not stopping bleeding. ended up paying to see a private gp and getting the Mefenamic acid that way but it cost me a small fortune which on my low wage is not something I can afford to do. Went back to my own gp who has referred me to a gynaecologist and said that might be the only way I can get Mefenamic acid now as no GP will prescribe it any longer! (I’ve been taking it since I was 13 on and off- I’m 36 now) I don’t want to be a guinea pig trying different tablets when I know of one that works. So I’m wondering if your GP has said anything similar to you?
