How long does your fertility improve after a laparoscopy? In need of advice after lack of information after surgery

I recently had a lap (April), and was diagnosed with stage 3 on/in my ovaries with chocolate cysts.

Saw a very stoic surgeon who wasn’t very chatty (even though I took a list of questions, I still feel like I was left with not enough information). When I asked about implications to my fertility, he stated I should not wait more than two years to have a baby.

My husband and I were not thinking of having kids for 3 years, and I’m feeling a bit shocked. I don’t feel like I’ve had enough information, but don’t have any more follow up appointments. I’m feeling completely thrown that something I didn’t think would probably be an issue (conceiving) now may likely be an issue, and time sensitive...

Any advice? How long generally do the improvements to your fertility last after a laparoscopy?

Hello, my surgeon (who happened to be head of the fertility clinic) told me endo can advance at different rates in different people so there's no way of saying how long before it effects your fertility. Did you discuss a hormone option? My understanding is this can hold or at least slow down endo but I never went down that route as I was ttc so I'm no expert. Personally I don't think you should ever have children if you don't feel ready emotionally, financially etc. Having a baby puts a massive strain on your relationship and life in general (although it is also the most rewarding thing you could ever do) so don't feel pushed into it if you have other options to explore xx
