Bright red blood after sex. worried and scared

Hi everyone, I have seen different gynaecologists . One said that I may have Endometriosis and possible Adenomiosis, the other one said I have Adenomiosis only. Moreover, In the past 2 months I have started bleeding after sex, not immediately but a few hours after sex. It's bright red blood. The doctor said it may not be related to Adenomiosis nor Endometriosis. I will have a hysteroscopy in 2 months but I am starting to get very nervous. My smear test was negative, so could it be something very serious and dangerous and not related to Adenomiosi and Endometriosis?

Has anyone experienced bleeding after sex that was related to Endo and/or Adeno?

I am new to this and i don't really know what to think/feel.

I had that a few years ago and it was due to PID x

I get bleeding after sex but was checked for STDs but they were negative. But bleeding after sex can be a sign of one or endo. My doctor said it could be a cyst bursting but I never had cysts show up on scans

Have you had swabs done to Rule out PID or other infections? Xx

Thank you for your reply. I had a scan 2 days ago and they couldn't see any cyst or polyps in my ovaries or uterus. The Smear test took at the end of April was negative, I was checked for Candida and Gonorrhoeae and the results were negative too. There is a mixed flora, intermediate between normal and bacterial vaginosis. Could it be that? The test was taken at the end of April, the gynaecologist just told me that everything was normal without mentioning this mixed flora results...

I've had bleeding once or twice after sex, but we don't know what caused it. If your smear test came back normal, perhaps an STI test? It could also be PID.

Hi Barbara - PID is pelvic inflammatory disease - you can find more information about it on nhs choices website. I’ve had bleeding after sex in the past - try not to scare yourself - it doesn’t always mean something sinister is behind it. In my case I had cervical etropcian (common for those who take the pill and Is where the lining of the cervical canal - which is more delicate and easily bleeds - starts to grow on the outside of the cervix - so when you have sex it gets knocked and bleeds leading to fresh red blood). I did also get it a few months back with endo - mine is located all behind the uterus so with the inflammation it would bleed when knocked in sex. You can always pop down to the GP to request a vaginal examination and if it was cervical Etropcian they can visualise it very easy using a speculum. Best to seek medical advice xxx

Yes I have had this before....I had Polyps.....some even protruded out of my cervix......so when I had sex sometime they would “pop” and I would get bleeding.

The first time it happened I was 26 weeks pregnant and it caused a huge commotion. Rushed to hospital, Baby was checked, full ultrasound, on constant contraction monitoring , shot full of hormones to try to mature lungs faster, put on bed rest, then a much older doctor actually put a spectrum in and had a look and he was like “ah ha” you have polyps.

The hystoscope will show if you have polyps or anything else serious on the inside of the uterus.

We always think the worst but there are also harmless reasons for symptoms.

I had a very thick lining. Almost an inch when it should have been millimeters.....so when they did a hystoscope I also got a d&C and a uterine ablation (not an option if you want future children) and this improved the quality of my life. I went from don’t leave your house periods to light pad for a couple of days.
