I started feeling unwell last Tuesday evening and thought it was a stomach bug because i was being sick and had stomach pain. I thought I was feeling better so went in to work on Friday but quickly became very unwell again. I went to the doctors and she took my temperature which was 37.8 (celsius) and a urine dip test showed blood and white blood cells. I was given antibiotics in the hope it was a UTI but the doctor said my symptoms suggested pancreatitis and if it gets worse go to A&E. My symptoms have stayed the same over the weekend and aren't showing any sign of improvement.
My symptoms are: abdominal pain in the centre and across/ under my ribs both sides but the right side is worse, pain made worse when moving, bending over, lying down, eating, intense nausea that causes sickness, very gassy. Pain is better when I lean forward and if I don't eat. I know it's not a lot but since last week I've lost 4 pounds and I'm starting to worry it's not just a bladder infection.
Does this sound like pancreatitis? I don't want to go to A&E and waste their time if it's something that will get better on its own. But I've also had many bladder infections and never experienced these symptoms. Normally it's painful when weeing but I've not experienced that pain. I have interstitial cystitis so I'm used to my bladder being painful but I haven't noticed any difference.
Part of me is thinking this is endo related 🙈 I just don't know what to do.
If anyone can offer any advice I'd really appreciate it.
TIA x

If you're in the UK have you tried ringing NHS 111? They go through a list of questions relating to your condition and determine whether it's serious enough for A&E, emergency walk in centre (sometimes they book an appointment), with your local GP (they can often fast track a same day appointment if you're registered there) or will say wait and make a normal appointment.
Looking up pancreatitis online it says:
The main symptom of acute pancreatitis is a severe pain that develops suddenly in the centre of your tummy.
This aching pain often gets steadily worse and can travel along your back.
Other symptoms of acute pancreatitis include:
•feeling or being sick (vomiting)
•diarrhoea
•indigestion
•a high temperature of 38C or more (fever)
•yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
•tenderness or swelling of the tummy.
Eating or drinking may make you feel worse very quickly, especially if you eat fatty foods.
Leaning forward or curling into a ball may help to relieve the pain, but lying flat on your back often makes it worse.
Hope you get some sort of treatment / seen to, let us know, worried about you xx
Thank you, it does sound like what I'm suffering from except I'm not jaundice and my temperature hasn't gotten quite that high. I'm waiting for my GP to call me back. I've not eaten today to see if it helps (which it has) but im at a loss for a long term solution if this doesn't go away. It feels like I'm going round in circles, I was doing so well and now I'm off sick from work again. Hopefully they'll be able to help.
You need to go to emergency!!! Did they culture your urine? I had the same symptoms......told them the antibiotics were not working. Turns out I have antibiotic resistant E. coli ESBL now waiting to hear if it is in kidneys. I am 4 weeks post lap.....feeling like shit and I lost 3.5 lbs I am now 125 since the symptoms started.
I also have IPMN which is pancreatic cysts so they checked my enzymes which are in the normal range so likely not pancreatitis.
Go get checked out!!! Your syptomz are not normal.
