Last few weeks I’ve been waking up in the night and it’s making me so tired all the time. I feel like my mind is constantly worrying about so much and can’t relax. Plus the nightmares are horrible 😫
I’ve struggled with fatigue for a while as it feels like my body is trying to fight something like when you get a cold for example. Even when I get 8 hours of sleep, I wake up exhausted

Fatigue is one of the main (and worst in my honest opinion) symptoms of endo. I struggled so much with that more than anything else before I had my diagnosis of ovarian cysts and the the lap op to remove them, which led to my endo diagnosis. I can recommend magnesium, it'll help relax you and your muscles, along with some other benefits, which'll hopefully help you sleep better. Valerian tea was recommended to me, but I didn't get on well with it. If you have a good health food shop near you, pop in and speak to them, they should be able to advise you on what might help.
I know it's difficult for you to get to the docs, but it really sounds like you could do with going, not only to talk to someone about all of this, but to see if there's anything they can prescribe. I went thinking I had anxiety, turns out I have depression as well, I really didn't want to go on medication, but I really had no choice, broken sleep and lack o it was making my life more difficult than it needed to be. It was only with GPs advice and willingness to listen and work with me to find the right antidepressants that things have improved.
I won't tell you to stop worrying as I know full well it's not that easy, but there are things you can do to manage it. Take it slowly, find things you enjoy doing and do them, maybe only for short periods of time to start with, but just something that takes your mind off things. Some people find cooking/baking helps, I find exercise really helps me when I'm struggling. Try and make sure you're drinking enough water too, try and have a pint about an hour before bed, and/or a cup of herbal/fruit tea, nothing with caffeine in it as it's a stimulant. When you wake up in the night, don't stay in bed for too long trying to get back to sleep, in my experience it doesn't work and you end up being awake longer. Move to a different room, settle down and read a book, watch TV, listen to relaxing music, whatever you do try not to make it too stimulating, if you're going to watch TV, try and make sure it's not a programme you have to concentrate on or think about too much as that'll just mean you stay awake to watch it!! Have volume on low as well, too loud and it'll keep you awake. I find sometimes the news channel works, or a channel where they often repeat episodes of programmes (like five USA), you don't need to concentrate too much on what's happening, just listen to it, and at a certain time it'll switch to teleshopping which is boring and mundane enough that it'll send you to sleep anyway!!
Whatever you do, try different things. Some will be too stimulating/active and keep you awake, others will work really well. It's about what works for you, not for someone else.
Hope some of this helps and you find something that works for you. Always here to provide support and advice if I can.
Thank you so much, I’ve had anxiety and depression in the past and recently it’s began appearing again. I’m nervous for my first lap as I don’t know when the date is. I’m worried nothing will be found or I’ll have a lot of damage.
My boyfriend tries to help but I struggle to talk about my feelings to people especially him as he worries too much about me and some of the negative thoughts and nightmares are about him and me feeling not good enough etc. Xx
What you describe is how I've been the past 4 years. Awful fatigue that's just crippled me. I thought it was all psychological stuff but I think now it's something to do with my hormones. This is just my theory though. I've tried every psychological thing/lifestyle change that could help and for me I find if I meditate every day, avoid rubbish food (sugar and all the usual processes things),caffeine, do yoga, don't over do it during the day (rest plenty) then it's all a bit more manageable.
Just a thought - have you had your thyroid checked?
Also do you maybe take any medications or supplements in the evening?
With the hormone imbalance comes inflammation. I get that fluey feeling like I'm coming down with something but it's not an illness, it just feels like my body is inflamed. Like I say above, doing all I can to calm that system down really helps. It's like a negative cycle once it starts but you can calm it down. Lots of rest, a really good diet, good supplements, lower stress as much as you can, meditation, very light non strenuous exercise like yoga, all these little things really help. It's not a cure but I find I get by better than when I don't do this. I've just started the endo friendly diet too (soy, gluten and sugar free as well as also being vegan) so I'm hoping this will really help with things.
I also never touch nsaids (like neurophen) because they damage the gut which I believe is so crucial to all these inflammatory related illnesses.
I try and use headspace everyday as it helps me to relax before I sleep but then I have nightmares sometimes. I normally go gym but I haven’t been in awhile so I’m definitely going to try and get back into that and the gluten free diet xx
I had my iron checked last year and my b12 and it came back normal. I can’t sleep during the day and I’m always on the go but at night my brain just starts wondering off and overthinking xxx
