I was just wondering if the combined pill effects what is seen during a laparoscopy? As many of my old symptoms are returning even though I have the Mirena coil which i was told that this would stop the endo from returning. 🤔😢

Hi Lauren,
I'm sorry I can't speak from personal experience but from doing my own research I have heard many others say that the pill can 'hide' signs of Endo in a Laparoscopy. From reading other posts I have heard that some ladies Laps have come back negative due to being on the pill, and when stopped the extent of the condition is more visible. Even though I am unsure whether this is accurate I have decided to stop this medication for my diagnostic Lap. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. xxx
Hi sorry to hear you suspect the endo has returned - I’m in the same situation and my gynaecologist (who is an endo specialist) said that the pill can make it more difficult for the surgeon to spot - he didn’t say I absolutely had to come off the pill but he said he would prefer it if I did, providing I could cope with the extra pain. Turned out my first period after coming off the pill wasn’t as bad as expected! If you have another appointment before your lap I would ask your surgeon’s opinion? If not I think all surgeons have secretaries so email or call them and get them to ask the surgeon on your behalf. It’s a simple yes or no answer that shouldn’t need another appointment! I appreciate it’s not just a simple case of stopping taking a tablet for you. Good luck x
