I took a week but it really depends on you and how invasive your surgery is, also people have their own limitations. I’ve had a c section on the past, which was a lot more restricting physically but like I say each person goes through something different xx

Hi Kate, yes I think 4 weeks will be plenty of time. Prob get away with less time if necessary!! 😉

Hi it depends what you have done, if excision work etc then it will likely take longer than diagnostic lap. Take it easyat first and steadily build up what you do.

Hi Kate, I took two days but mine was diagnostic only. I was given advice from hospital that this would be sufficient but in hindsight i think a few more days would have made the recovery easier.

Hi Kate,

My surgeon advised me to take 4 days but my lap was for a diagnosis and to remove the Endo as well so I ended up taking a week and a half (and I ended up in hospital again for 3 of those days) but I was back to running around after about two weeks 🙂 it all depends on your pain threshold and how much you have done.

Personally I’d say you definitely don’t need 4 weeks but maybe just see how you go. Hope it all goes okay! xx

What are you having removed, do you know?! Normally two weeks is enough, but if you know that you will have a lot removed already then take 3 to be safe?

But I don't think you will need 4 weeks unless the surgery is extensive and takes longer than 90 mins.. xx

Oh I see. In that case take 4 weeks off in case...

You will be ok trust me!! The anaesthetic and the drugs will help :) get nice treats, magazines, books and things to keep you going for those weeks you will be home. Don't worry about the operation as you won't be feeling a thing :) and then you will just sleep a lot.. xxxxxx best of luck with it all and I hope for you that it won't last too long and most of all that most of your symptoms will be gone

Hi Kate I think 4 weeks to be safe, especially if there is an employer involved. Best to say about 4 weeks and if you feel better after 2-3 that’s fine. Took me 6 months to recover from a myomectomy - but was a lot more extensive, etc. I too now need a lap. I hope yours goes well.

Don’t be scared, it will go well. You will feel sore. You might feel gas pain from the general anaesthetic, etc. But it will get better.

You will be ok and it’s to help relieve your symptoms!!

It depends on the extent of operation. I took 3 when I had an ovary removed and tube and other things to. 2 weeks for a normal lap investigation is often fine. But everyone recovers differently. Good luck
