Time off work after laparoscopy?

Hey guys!

Just wondering how long people took off work after the laparoscopy?

I had my surgery on the 30th June and although nothing was found I was under for 2 hours while they searched.

I'm due to start back at work tomorrow but I am still in a bit of post-op pain as well as my everyday pain being excruciating lately.

Am I trying to go back too quickly?

I'm back at the doctors tomorrow morning before work to have a talk about being referred to an endometriosis specialist and I'm wondering if I should get a sick line...

Everybody is different when it comes to (going back to work) most people tend to have roughly 2 weeks off, some less and some have longer, it all depends on when you feel ready. If you don't feel ready to face work and can afford the time off, then do so.. Don't push your self to hard.

Thankyou! I will see how I feel tomorrow when I'm at the doctors, I just don't want to push too hard!

I had a week off after my surgery & now in hindsight, I should've had longer. The best piece of advice I can give you, is listen to your body, I wish I had. I was exhausted after my first week back, even though I was only on light duties & couldn't pick any of the children up.

I did exactly the same, did too much & exhausted myself. It's hard though, especially if you've got little ones. My son is nearly 5, but he still couldn't understand why I couldn't pick him up etc, although, he did keep kissing my tummy to make it better. X

Awh that's adorable. We don't have kids yet but I don't like not being able to do things so I've been trying but like today I sat at my makeup area on the floor for over an hour and played around with looks and now I'm in agony! Xx

Hello Stacey,

My advice would be if you have any reservations take some more time.I remember going back after 10 days and I was not well and ended up off again!

Take your time, trust your body and your instincts.

Best wishes,

Clare

I would listen to what your body says. I originally had planned for two weeks but a few days before was stressing so much as I knew I wasn't ready. I ended up taking three weeks off and I am soooo greatful for it.

Don't rush back to work, it's tough to recover and emotionally tough too.

Hope you are ok, take it slow 💛
