I have suffered with Endo for 15 long years now , I had my 4th laparoscopy last August to remove the endo and release my ovary as it had attached to my abdominal wall.
I was also diagnosed with 2 uterine fibroid tumours( not cancerous) for which my consultant out me on a 4 month treatment plan of prostate injections.
I am now at the end of that 4 months and the injections worked amazingly for the first 6 weeks, but, i still have severe right handed pain . Somedays it feels like the fibroids have grown, has anyone on here got any experience of this ?
I have a review next week where it will be decided if I can finally have a full hysterectomy which is what I have been fighting for over the last 10 years.
my only worry is, my consultant said id the injections dont work then its not my ovaries/endo or fibroids causing the pain therefore a hysterectomy would not resolve my issues.
I have no idea what tell him , i am tempted to lie as I know my body and want the full hysterectomy
I have now been off work for 10months and prescribed both tramodol and oramorph for the pain which makes me feel like a zombie
any advice would be greatly appreciated

The injections should reduce any fibroids that are present. So it would be surprising if they were actually growing while you were having the injections. Can you describe your right sided pain? Possibly if it’s not been better with the injections it may be caused by adhesions, this could be the case after 4 laps xxx
Hi if you are on Zoladex (also used to treat prostate cancer) to treat fibroids then it can cause pain as the fibroids shrink. The drug information sheet mentions this. I found it by googling when I had to start them not for fibroids but adenomyosis and endo. Good luck!
This might mean the drug has/is working, depending what doc says if they aren't keen to do hysterectomy you might need to show them the info. I was given it to shrink uterus down (adenomyosis is extensive in uterine wall) to make hysterectomy less risky.
Thanks so much for this, I had seen in the info leaflet shrinking can also cause pain, but, because it’s a throbbing pain, and , because I’ve suffered for so many years I just automatically assumed the injections weren’t working .
My endo was so bad when I was 26 ( I’m 40 now) I was told a full hysterectomy was the only solution. For the last 20 years I’ve asked and asked for the hysterectomy but been declined so now I just hope they agree to it x
My endo was first picked up when I was in early 30's, am now 46. If they don't agree to hysterectomy then push to see a pain specialist. Taking painkillers for as long as we have causes damage of its own. On the drug leaflets there are warnings etc and usage time limits but docs ignore them if it suits. I am waiting for blood test results and a liver scan as they think the drugs are damaging it.
I have been in A&E twice in the last 3 weeks, first for pain not maneged with tramodol and my urine had bilirubin in it which indicates liver issues. After 12 hours liver function was normal and I was treated with 2 different types of antibiotics for an inflamed gallbladder. I had a scan which showed no inflammation. I then had an allergic reaction to one of the antibiotics. Fed up does not even cover how I feel. I am scared if I say to consultant I still have pain I won’t get the hysterectomy, also if the fibroids are not causing the pain then what is as the scan did not ditect any issues with my bowel, gallbladder, spleen or kidneys ... I feel lost
Today I had my appointment with my consultant who has agreed to a full hysterectomy, to say I’m over the moon is an understatement.
15 years of suffering with stage 4 endometriosis, adhesions and more recently fibroid rumours, I can finally start making plans and move on with my life
I know it’s hard but stay positive and pester your doctor and consultant if your not getting the answers you deserve x
