Post Complete hysterectomy, endo, gallbladder removal...adhesion resection

I'm 30 yrs old on HRT, I had my complete laporscopic hysterectomy feb. 2015 also had my gallbladder removed and endometriosis burned off. They did it all while they were in there because I had a diseased gallbladder and gallstones. Here I am 3 years later 5 days post op from exploratory laporscopic surgery. I've been having severe abdominal pain, pelvic pain, back pain, painful swollen lymph nodes in my neck, knots on my back, pain in all of my joints...I have lost 25 lbs in a matter of 3 months with no diet change and not trying either! The only thing they found from the surgery were some minor adhesions post hysterectomy/gallbladder but nothing explaining my pain that I'm experienceing. The Dr went ahead and removed the adhesions he seen and I'm not sure if that helped or just made things worse. 🤔😔 my stomach is hard and swollen today, trying my best not to take pain medication. Anyone else have any opinions or answers for me?

Please go and see your GP, or contact the hospital. I don’t want to scare you, but if you are 5 days post op and your pain is increasing and your stomach is hard and swollen you may either have an infection or an injury from surgery. I know this from experience, I unfortunately had an injury to my ureter during excision surgery which was not picked up for 4 days. I experienced similar symptoms due to the build up of urine in my abdomen. Please get it checked to be on the safe side. It may just be post inflammation but best to be sure.

Hi Shaina. I wish I had the answers for you but I'm currently off sick because of the symptoms you've stated above and other issues. I haven't had a hysterectomy but I've had a Laparoscopy and Laparotomy nearly 2 years ago though. If you get any answers can you let me know please?

I just corresponded with my Dr who did my exploratory laporscopic surgery last wk. I requested that he do a follow up CT (to the ultrasound I had done January 19thas suggested by the radiologist who read them)on the swollen lymph nodes in my neck because yesterday the pain and pressure was so horrible it felt like at any moment my head was going to pop off my neck! He had his nurse respond "Dr ....is putting in a referal for a second opinion to an ENT. If you need anything else from us just let us know." He's not scheduled a follow up appointment post op, no one has called to see how I'm doing post op, I'm extremely nauseous and my stomach is hard as a rock. Sorry I believe I'm slightly venting here...that just rubbed me the wrong way.. but yes my dear as soon as I get some answers I will post!

Have your Drs checked your B12 or Vit-D? You should see a rhemotologist and see what they have to say as well!

Bless you sweetie and thanks for the update, I totally get your frustration. I can't believe how many of us go through such terrible pain and invasive surgeries but still don't have answers.

The only thing I could suggest that might help a little is peppermint tea in addition to your anti-sickness meds. If you're still really worried about the pain though you should get a second apinion - I'm changing to an endo specialist (if all goes well) because I feel like my current consultant could be a bit out of their league.

I've also got to confess that at 33 (then) it took me a lot longing to recover than I thought it would.

Yep they've checked all of the above and it was normal, even the bone density scan came back with the same results (which I'm obviously happy about). Not sure the Drs know what to do with me tbh :( I'm sure I'll lose my job too as I have had a few periods of sickness now which just adds to the stress.

Also a great book for chronic pain suffers is mindfulness for health - when some suggested I thought it was ridiculous but turns out very helpful to understand how our brains/body react to pain.

Wish I could help hun!
