I thought I’d share a picture of my horrendous Endo Belly tonight.
As an 18 year old girl I was a size 8 and was so slim. I’m now 20, recently diagnosed with endo with the most horrendous Endo Belly I have ever seen. Being 20 and especially tonight on New Year’s Eve I should be out with my friends having the time of my life but I’m sat at home feeling sick about this picture. This picture is just not me.
I have just sent this picture to my mum and the first question she asked was ‘ OMG are you pregnant’. It’s not right. Us women should never have to put up with things like this.
My New Years resolution is now to go on a strict endo diet and try and get to the gym as much as I can because I can’t look and feel like this for the rest of my life 😩

I’m so sorry you’re suffering. I am unable to leave the house for New Years due to my recent surgery. Hang in there, you can get through this!
Oh poor you, that looks sooo uncomfortable 😔. Endo belly is an absolute misery. I found that switching to lactofree milk and curbing the gluten helps a little but if I were you I'd get back in to see your consultant and take the picture with you. Keep a diary of EVERYTHING- all symptoms. How are they planning to treat you? Amy x
I’ve been discharged from him after my surgery he removed the endo and just said try the endo diet but didn’t give me much advice on it. I’m definately going to start a food diary and try and see what’s causing it x
Hey, I’m so sorry and completely understand how upsetting it can be as a young person (I’m 18) and can’t wear bodycon dresses anymore or eat what I want without getting heartburn or bloating.
I’m the same as you, gonna try an endo diet. If you ever wanna talk, just PM me whenever babe. 💕
Sorry your suffering like that hun, wow, i thort mine was big, yes im just the same dint eat very much dont drink, yet my tummy swells huge like im about to pop and sooooooo uncomfortable an hard, nothing else can go in there, im a size 10 but look like im 6 months pregnant, have to wear loose clothes, the endo diet seems like the best option as drs are in no rush to help, whats goin on girls what is this horrible disease, we do suffer as women dont we, all the best hun hope you feel comfortable soon.
Know that you are still such a beautiful young woman and I too struggle with endo belly and at my worst can definitely look pregnant due to the inflammation and swelling. Know that you are STILL beautiful and LOVED! I know that can be challenging to accept, but know it's the truth! : ) If you really are feeling down I would suggest speaking to your family and friends about what you're going through and/or see if you can begin counselling to get through the physical and emotional trauma associated with having endo. I'd definitely suggest consuming foods and herbs (tea) that fight against and reduce inflammation and swelling.
E.g.'s
Herbs:
- Turmeric (try to get fresh organic if you can) and grate it then make a tea (it will taste bitter initially, but it really helps reducing inflammation). Alternatively you can also get turmeric powder and/or capsules. but fresh and 100% organic would be best!
- Ginger (you can grate this as well and make a fresh tea out of it - the stronger the better, but just not to the point where it makes you feel even more nauseous or sick. I'd say at least start off with 2 - 3 pinky sized pieces) You can also get these in powder and capsule form. Just ensure the capsule are vegetarian or vegan
- Nettle, peppermint, cardamom tea (there is an organic brand 'Pukka' that has one called 'Cleanse') containing all these herbs. They also have a Detox one that I would suggest as well. Yogi tea is also good.
*with these herbs you can also incorporate them in your food.
Food wise, I found that cutting out all dairy products, soy and corn made a tremendous difference in alleviating a lot of my sever pain and manages to keep my pain level down in general when not on my period. The reason for cutting out those things is because they mostly all contain hormones (i.e. effecting your body's natural hormonal balance) and foods, drinks, sauces and spreads containing dairy, soy and corn are genetically modified (GM/GMO/GE). Which also disrupts and damage the body. Also, try to remove or limit eating and drinking processed foods i.e. things in packets that usually contain: high amounts of processed sugar, salt, colours/dyes and harmful additives and preservatives that also lead to inflammation and all around ill health.
I also found that being gluten-free, wheat-free and yeast-free has also helped reduce and eradicate a lot of the inflammation, my acne and a lot of other health issues.
If you need any help with locating these things or just want to discuss the lifestyle (vegan, GF) please feel free to contact me!
Thanks so much, I’m going to look into getting some turmeric because I’ve heard about that before. Also going to go on a strict endo diet starting this week to see if that makes any difference. Thanks so much for your advice xx

Hey how is the endo diet going? I get awful bloating too and look pregnant. I follow endo diet and it does help a bit but I do get flare ups sometimes. Have you tried stomach massage? I find that helps a bit x
I just don’t find nothing that is helping. When I first wake up it’s not as bad but as soon as I have my breakfast (gluten and dairy free) straight away it goes massive again x
