I haven’t tried it! I was reading about it and it says it is good for people who have endometriosis!! I take it you didn’t like it if you aren’t on it........,

I’ve never got on well with synthetic hormones but was put on Qlaira and reassured that it would be a better match than usual... it was a very, very bad match. My hair started falling out dramatically, I had the most horrendous palpitations and panic attacks, my skin was sore and spotty.... I ended up at the out of hours doctors because my palpitations were so terrible. I stopped taking it and felt considerably better within a week. But of course this is just my unique experience! I was eventually diagnosed with a significant intolerance to synthetic progesterones xx

I had a laparoscopy and ablation which helped a bit but then thing got worse and I tried acupuncture out of desperation. That made a massive difference. I have no idea how or why but it’s changed my life. Now I have acupuncture once every 3-4 months and use tranexamic and mefenamic acid if I need it.

Have you been offered any hormonal treatments such as contraceptive pills/ the coil?

I’ve been eight or nine different types of contraceptive pills, the implant, the depo provera injection and the mirena coil. Out of them all, the depo provera injection was the best; all of the others caused a varying degree of side effects, some very bad like the qlaira pill and the mirena coil. My response to synthetic hormones became so severely negative that I now have a permanent note on my medical records that I should not be treated with synthetic hormones, particularly progestins. That’s why I tried acupuncture after my surgery, a last resort really and I was very surprised when I found it gave me some significant relief 😊
