Anyone taking Norethisterone?

I was on Prostap, however I am unable to continue on this medication, due to bone thinning and some other horrible side effects.

I am glad to come off Prostap, but I have now been put on Norethisterone, as a trial for 8 weeks. I am a little apprehensive, has I feel I'm going from one to the next and pretty much sick of the continuous change in meds all the time.

Just want to know other ladies experience on this drug before I start taking it.

🙂

Think you have to try diff meds until you get the one that suits you. Norethisterone was OK for me but ultimately Provera was the best

Thank you Linley

I think, try different meds, just gets tiring.

Feminax ultra in the pink packet is the best pain killer

Hi I was put on it a few weeks ago to see if it could stop the bleeding a 6 week long period. Was told it couldn’t be a long term solution but it didn’t work anyway!! Why are you on it?

Hi Judd123

I get heavy, painful periods, what last up to two weeks, everytime I have a bleed. Its so bad, I'm pretty much bed bound. If I be honest, pelvic pains, makes me restless, which sometimes leads to contractions....

I have a quite a few endo deposits in my pelvis, cyst mass, and adhesions which sorts of restricts my movements.

The Prostap didn't work as well, has the restlessness of pains was still present, if I over did anything. It caused bone thinning too.

My periods lasted 2 weeks long also each month and qas extremely heavy too which lead me yo wearing always discreet pants :/ embarrassing but couldnt wear pads as they filled with blood after 10 or 15 minutes each time!!! So i took this route with prostap which didny work neither which always made me cramo and spotting and breakthrough bleed foe the 3 months injection i had .... so i went kn norethisterone and just continued with it so tbh im now really worried about coming of the norethisterone cause of the withdrawel bleed i havent a clue have massively bad its going to be

Hii, I took this for some time, over 3/4 months.. it helped but I noticed that when I missed a pill I would bleed and have terrible cramps the next day. So I got off it completely. I am now waiting to get an appointment to see if I can be put on a different medication. Hope this helps

I was on it to try and stop my periods- it didn’t work for me- they became lighter but the side effects I had were not worth it.

I’m currently trying femodene- only taken it for two months- no horrible side effects but I am bleeding tiny amounts every single day. Hoping by the end of three months it may do the trick.

Good luck- I know it’s tiring trying different meds all the time- try to be positive that one will work for you.

Thank you for your kind words, and sharing your experience.

I rang my doctor, who was unhelpful and told me to ring the gyne doctor.

I'm still in two minds whether to take the drug x
