Anyone had pregabalin for endometriosis
Hello I've had pregablin before but not for endo although I have endo. It's a good pain killer it's used for nerve pain mainly, although I had to discontinue as I had terrible involuntary movements just jerking all the time. This happened when my dose was increased. Sometimes things take weeks to kick in this is one of these drugs that do not work immediately take time to work. Xx
Thanks for the reply I’m actually increasing my dose today. I’ll give it another few weeks, did it make you gain weight? Xx
Yes I went from 11 to 15 stone!! I won't lie to you. But remember it's not the tablet that makes u gain weight it gives you an increased appetite... So I was waking in the night eating cake, biscuits, crisps lol so my own fault. You won't gain weight of the tablet alone just if you over eat the way I did xxx
Oh I hope not I’ve struggled to loose weight for 4 years now, I just seem to collect water. How long was you on it. At the min I think my appetite has decreased hopefully it stays that way lol xx
Around a year prob just over I got to the highest dose n couldn't stop jerking literally. Have they not offered you anything else 4 endo pain I was shocked yo see you have pregablin for it. I'm having open surgery hysterectomy on Thursday xxxx
I take votarol suppositories and co-dydramol , I tried the injection which didn’t work, I asked my specialist for stronger pain relief an he gave me the pregabalin to take along side my others. I’m waiting for surgery but the nurse said it’s likely to be next year now ☹️. Hope all goes well for you xxx
I was due to have abdominal hysterectomy 7th April I was literally seen 2 weeks b4 in private hosp and booked for my surgery. Was obv cancelled with covid my consultant took it to management a few weeks ago said I cannot wait any longer so I'm in next week. Terrified I keep thinking of cancelling it I'm scared I won't wake up. What is it that bothers u most bleeding or pain or both how old r u have u not been offered zoladex I had that xxx
I’m sure you will be ok, it’s always a worry when going for surgery. The pain is the thing that bothers me most, I’m 35 still no kids, do u have any? I’ve had prostap injection. If u don’t mind me asking what hospital you under xxx
Is prostap zoladex? The zoladex sends you in o menopause combined with hrt. I'm 29 and have 2 children little girl aged 4 and little boy aged 14 months honey. I'm under spire private health care in Blackpool although it's through the NHS if that makes any sense. Where abouts are you xxxx
Yeh prostap does the same, I’ve tried having kids for years had no look, hopefully one day I will get them. I’m from Liverpool but I go to a specialist in Manchester. I paid to see him privately then he wrote to my G.P so I could go to his NHS clinic. But before COVID-19 he already had a 7-8 month wait list for surgery. An I had to wait for my MRI results before I could be put on that list. I spoke to him on the phone about 3 weeks ago an he’s now put me on the list but I have a long wait.😬 xxx
Hi. I take pregabalin. Had constant pain, periods and between. Felt like wearing shorts made of lightening down to my knees. Had to gradually increase my dose to make a difference but it stopped all the nerve pain. Took a few weeks and only helped with the nerve type of pain.
I put weight on initially but have now lost it and still on pregabalin. It can give you swelling in hands and feet. Although that seems to have reduced now I have lost weight so it may have been that instead! Made a massive difference for me but know doesn't suit everyone.
Hope you find something that helps you. Xx
Hi, I’ve been on pregabolin for a few years now, but starting taking it alongside tramadol which really did help my pain but can say the side effects just caused me to feel about out of it, memory issues, really helped me get a good night sleep but found it extremely hard to lower dose & come off unlike tramadol which I expected to be hard to withdraw, but then had to start taking it again & increase after hysterectomy & then I was left with nerve damage on left side of groin 🤦♀️, but now trying amytryptline? Which is helping & coming off pregabolin as also read it can cause scaring on the brain 🧠.
Maybe you need something else alongside it, good luck & hope you find some relief real soon.
Hi thanks for the reply. I’m just a bit worried as I also have epilepsy an I’ve been feeling a bit woosey on it like I’m drunk. Hope you get sorted xx
I take pregabalin, combined with tramadol. It does the trick of numbing me but everybody is different. I haven't gained any weight with it too. I'm on 150mg morning and evening and 50 g in the afternoon. Keeps me going to keep up with the kids. In the initial years it's about finding out what works best for you. Work closely with a pain team that works with your endometriosis team. Every BSGE hospital has one of these.
I have tried pregabalin in the past, had a lovely couple of days as it seems to cause euphoria when you start. Then I was just woozy and had to stop taking it. At the moment I am in the lowest dose of Gabapentin, that is effective as far as it goes but I just feel a bit slowed down with it and wouldn’t want to increase it any further. Gabapentin is a similar drug, also for nerve pain. Both of them have quite a lot of varied side effects but may suit some people.
Hope you can find something that works.
Hi Shelly,
I have tried Pregabalin in the past and it made severely poorly by the end of the two weeks- I couldn't get to the end of the month trial. By the time I was taking it on a morning and evening, I became so weak I couldn't get out of bed. My doctor believes I ended up suffering with Serotonin Syndrome. I would just keep a watch out for that! Happy to talk more about my experience if you'd like! x
