I know this is exactly how I’m going to be feeling in a few weeks time. I can’t tell you anything about the procedure coz I’m still waiting, but I promise the blood test and cannula will be fine. I have blood tests all the time and some of the nurses are so good you don’t even feel the needle go in. I had a cannula when I was sedated for an endoscopy and I was scared about that too. I know it won’t make you less nervous but that was also 100% fine!! Promise! I’ve never been in hospital long either never had to be in a gown and all that, so I get your nerves!

I relate to you, I felt like this the first time I had a laparoscopy for endo just over ten years ago. It was the first time I had an op. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't look whilst they did the blood test and cannula as I was anxious about it and I hardly felt it! Things often turn out to be easier and better than we think they are going to be, especially the first time we experience it. I have had three laps since and I hardly worry about it now. By the way, even after four laps, it's almost impossible to see any scars so no need to worry about it. I hope it all goes well, thinking of youx
Hello I just wanted to wish you luck for tomorrow. You're gonna be completely fine. I'm a agoraphobic with a anxiety disorder among other issues and I've had several laps now. I always found that soon as I'm dressed into a gown and waiting for my turn I'm completely calm that you can't even tell I have issues. You shouldn't feel much with the cannula going in as they tend to do that while you're getting ready to wheeled into the operation room and you have people chatting to you to take your mind off it all. I will give a tip though due to some people getting gas pain felt in the shoulders, peppermint tea and gentle movements should shift it also hot water bottles.
Just breathe! Breathe and count to 10, that’s all you need to do and the team of nurses, doctors and anaesthesiologists around you will do the rest! Ask for numbing cream as soon as you get to the hospital if you’re really worried about the cannula. The gown is like a massive cotton t-shirt with no back so bring a pair of shorts or a dressing gown for when you’re just sitting on the bed waiting/something you can easily take off if you’re worried about exposing yourself and the bed is just like a bed, get yourself comfy and that will help you to relax. And the scars are just two/three small slits no bigger than the length of a bottle top and I’m 3 weeks post op and you wouldn’t even know I’d had anything done so don’t worry! Just remember to keep them clean and they’ll heal nicely! Wishing you the best of luck and hope everything goes to plan xx
Hi. I had my op a few days ago. Honestly the procedure and prep beforehand is nothing to worry about. They will make you feel really at ease and comfortable. I worried myself sick about it and it was grand!

You'll be absolutely fine. I had an operation last year and I got so worked up about the anaesthetic and cannula and stuff that I cried myself to sleep and woke up crying from the anaesthetic lol. It wasn't half as bad as I had pictured it in my head!

Hi everyone, I’m going to keep this short because I’m very dozie.
I’m home.
I ate and drank and puked and ate and drank and puked. But couldn’t wee. So after much more drinking and a little walk I got 37ml out. They said it was ok to go as I could function, and ultrasound showed my bladder only had 19% liquid left in.
I cried a bit during cannula and going in to theatre. Just got a bit scared.
Everyone was so lovely and thoughtful.
Woke up after an hour very suddenly and had a panic attack. A nurse helped me control my breathing.
But then told me ‘there was no endo, scars or adhesions found’
I was devastated and cried all over again. She didn’t understand that was bad news to me.
I’m confused as I was convinced I had it, I’m unsure what to do next. Il call my gp and see what she can offer next. I don’t know if an MRI will help? I’m worried about Adenomyosis. Is there any help with MRI?

Oh pain is 6/10. Shoulders both achy like a pulled muscle feeling. I have a heat bag wrapped round them and a hot water bottle on my side.
Ah no, I’m so sorry you didn’t get the answers you wanted. I know what you mean about being devastated. I know endometriosis isn’t something anyone wants to have, but it’s just as hard having all the symptoms and pains but no answer at all for your problems! This is exactly what Im scared about happening.
Have you got a follow up appointment? So did they tell you everything looked normal?!
My discharge summary says ‘uneventful procedure, pristine pelvis with no cause for pain identified. No planned hospital follow up’

So I’ve been signed off pretty much. I think I’m going to have to push hard now for help. I’m not prepared to live with the pain. I certainly wouldn’t be able to carry on with my career as a chef. It’s too hard to do it with no light at the end of the tunnel.
OMG no way. 😔 was your surgeon an endometriosis specialised? I’ve read a lot of people on here say that their 1st lap didn’t show anything but an endo specialist found it later. I’m having hysteroscopy with my lap, have they ever mentioned that?

Well I agree with your but we both have Endo. I hope it all goes well. From my own experience hold off having more opps as long as possible as scare tissue and noerve damage adds up over the years and that can make things worse with pain and bowel or something else could be lost a d that would make everything worse again. So when you have any surgery make sure if there is alternatives and you get second opinion. I am now 60 I had 6 opps, 2 were for IVF, I still have Endo, I have nerve pain and ridged areas caused by opps. So a lot more issues than just the disease. Take Care z
So sorry you were dismissed like this and the op didn't bring you relieve. I had two laps and same result as you had. Then I went private and had a MRI scan from my tummy. And the scan showed adenomyosis. I searched a good gyn and found one and he treated me years for adenomyosis.
Unfortunately, we are now 3 years further, I now (42 y/o) have even more severe pain also while pooping and a new MRI scan showed deep infiltrating endometriosis and that adenomyosis is also back with a vengeance.
First endo specialist dismissed me and wanted to take my uterus out. I went to another with the MRI images, this endo specialist took me very serious and made a vaginal echo. Said she saw massive adenomyosis and possible that the uterus was adhesed to my bowel. I will be discussed in a multidisciplinary team and probably will be operated within a few months. Maybe two ops one being a big one with removal part bowel and so. Till then I will probably put on Lucrin.
So keep believing in your self and find another gyn. Consider making a MRI privately. It cosTed me 700 Euro but it was worth every penny.
Just woke up and having the exact same pains as always but with wound pain and shoulder pain on top.
I tell you what though, I’m not feeling sorry for myself. I’m feeling angry that this cannot be normal and I am determined to get something done.
I’m sorry to hear what they have found in you but it has reassured me that an MRI could be a good step for me. I will consider private MRI.
I’m going to get a dr appointment today. Unfortunately my doctor doesn’t work today but I just want it logged and in motion now so will see anyone available. My mum will drive me over and il be fresh from op so no holds barred lol

I saw an on call doctor. So not my doctor that has been with me the whole time.
The less said about the doctor the better. I got told pain can sometimes just be in your head and there’s nothing actually wrong.
That’s all I’m going to repeat.
I did however get what I wanted. She has referred me for an MRI. I will see my doctor on Tuesday and have a better talk and check it’s been done for me.
I’m feeling tender, useless, bored already. I’m not feeling too much from the lower wound but the belly button wound is very sore to touch very sensitive. I look like I have a baby bump, which is hard to press. I can’t stand up straight as it feels too much of a stretch atm. I’d say I’m not too bad though really. Had a nice nap and eating fine.
Weeing is still very slow and not a steady flow. It keeps stopping when I breath in. Guessing this is normal from swelling?? Anyone know? Also I don’t get the feeling I need a wee I’m just guessing I must need to every couple hours.
Sorry to hear your having a tough time and it wasn’t the result you wanted. I totally understand where your coming from with feeling like that. I’ve had numourous tests and been to different departments and every time I got the all clear I was dissapointed as I knew I wasn’t right and wanted answers. My ct scans were always clear. I’m so glad you got sorted with an Mri scan app. I had one and it showed endermetriosis on my bowel. Until then everything was clear. I think mri scans also picks up another condition similar to endermetriosis too sorry I’ve forgotten then name but it’s similar symptoms. Hope you get some answers soon and feel better soon
