Hey,

I'm post lap 5 weeks. I'm just experiencing my first period since lap...I am in agony taken pain killers and hot water bottle & in bed. I have also had to ask my parents to pick my son up from school today.

Has anyone else experienced this pain after lap?

After the op i had serious constipation for 2 weeks which is now fine. However prior to the lap and now i have the runs all the time. I have noticed when i need the toilet regardless if it is for a wee or number 2 (sorry) there is no warning i am just desperate and would not be able to hold on.

Also i have noticed today a tiny bit of blood in my poo.

Has anyone else had this or has any advice?

thanks x

Hi about your first period after lap I experienced that too! It was just as bad as before, but I have been told that you can't count your first 2 periods as everything is changing etc!!

Toilet wise I haven't experienced that so maybe talk to your GP or gyno about it? It might be just be the after effects of the op x

Hi Steph

So sorry to hear you're in pain. Yes, I'm also 5 weeks after my first laparoscopy. It was only diagnostic and the only thing the surgeon removed was an endocervical polyp apparently. My surgery was on a Friday and on the Wednesday of the following week I had a really terrible period...one of the worst, if not THE worst I've ever had. It really slowed up my recovery.

This week I've had my second period post-op and I can honestly say I have never experienced pain like it. Yesterday I was literally unable to move. My whole body was shaking with the shock of the pain and I was in tears. I took 2 paracetamol and a mefenamic acid pill and gradually felt a bit better. My poor partner was so upset for me that he took the day off work...he'd never ever seen me like that before.

So, yes....definitely periods after laps can be EXCRUCIATINGLY painful.

Re. your bowel movements...have you been diagnosed with rectovaginal endometriosis? Apparently my cervix is stuck to my bowel and my pouch of Douglas is full of adhesions which causes me to have all sorts of bowel problems - blood from backside, mucus, constipation, diarrhoea, really painful trapped wind and horrible pain every time I go to the toilet.

If you don't normally have bowel/bladder problems, however, it might just be that due to the lap your organs were moved around a bit and they still haven't settled down??? Certainly, as I said, in my case because nothing was actually done this time, I never expected to feel so much post-op pain and discomfort...all that pain and no gain!!! I really hope the next period won't be as bad...

Anyway, I'm sending you all warmest wishes and do hope you feel better very, very soon.
