Hi I'm very new on here. Im due to have a hysterectomy in a month or so. I was wondering if anyone else had to have the pro strap injections before they had theirs done and how did they get on with them.
I had my second one yesterday and was warned the side effects will kick in now. I just want to know what to expect

Hi, I have my hysterectomy on Tuesday and I had the injections too. I found that most of my side effects were after the 3rd week of the first jab. I bled horrifically for about a week and I had a day of really bad diarrhoea. The day of diarrhoea was repeated after the 2nd jab too but not as bad. I am also losing my hair (not in clumps, just the brush takes more than usual!) but the pain has reduced, not completely but better than what it was. I had the first jab in August. Good luck with your op xx
Hi i am 37 and just had a full hysterectomy but ovaries remain. I had 1 injection back in April to last until i had my op in july. This is to stop periods and to make it easier for consultant to remove your inners.
I had 1 lot of hrt that made me really ill with severe headaches and very tender breast so i was put on another course which i bleed to whole month so i decided to persevere with the menopause symptoms. 2 weeks without any hrt i was having hot flushes all the time and severe night sweats where i was awake every hour wet through. I ended up going to dr for something to help me sleep as i could of ripped someone's head off due to the lack of sleep. These helped but not fully. I am 10 weeks post op now and 6 months since i had my 1 injection and the sweats have only just stopped.
If you are only waiting 1 month id ask if the injection is necessary.
Hope all goes well with your op it's the best decision i have made i feel like a new woman already.
If i can help you with anything else let me know x
Hi thanks for replying. I have to have 3 injections 4 weeks apart. I had my second one on Thursday. I bled heavily after my first one. I have been warned that symptoms of the menopause will get worse now.
Unfortunately they did with me, but by the sounds of it mine must have been a different injection as i only had 1.
Not pleasant what us woman have to go through.
Sooner you have your op the better but you will still have side effects for a good while afterwards. If you start to feel down seek help from your dr as you are undergoing a major operation and it will be a shock to your body and mind not to mention your hormones.
