Surgery soon

Hi there,

I was diagnosed earlier with stage 3 endometriosis and this Monday I will be having my first surgery to have it removed.

I have deep endometriosis in my uterasacral (?) ligaments so they’re cutting them completely out. Can anyone who has experienced this tell me if this makes the recovery more painful or like hard to walk?

I’m not really sure if I’m honest where the endometriosis is growing, or to what extent it is. I was only told in my pre op that they found ovarian cysts and polyps so I’m pretty clueless what’s going on down there.

Anyway, if anyone has had any similar operations can you please tell me what the recovery period was like? ☺️

Those ligaments hold up your uterus, so no direct effect on your ability to walk.

Your endo is deep so guessing you will have it excised so quite a big operation, hard to tell until they are actually performing the surgery. Are you having a laparoscopy? If so they will fill you with gas, and you can get quite bad pains with it. Have peppermint tea to help it and hot water bottles. Walk around as much as you afterwards. If it's a laparoscopy you will have about 4small cuts , one inside your belly button one with side by hips and in centre by bikini line.

Is the surgeon BSGE accredited? An endo specialist? Xxxx

Thank you for replying so quickly! And thank you for your tips :)

Yeah I am having a laparoscopy and I think my surgeon is going to do an excision of any endometriosis. He’s bsge accredited and wonderful! My scars from my last op healed up so well you can barely see them.

Have you had this operation before? cxxx

I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy with endo excision 10 weeks ago.

My ovaries were stuck together and left one had a chocolate cyst. Ovaries stuck to my uterus which was stuck to my bowels which was stuck to my back. Uterus had large fibroid near cervix and adeno.

Great your surgeon is BSGE. I had a diagnostic lap in May and scars are just about visible.

You will comfy clothes to come home in as you'll be quite swollen, big knickers also help as they won't rub on your wounds. Good luck, any questions just shout. Big hugs xxxx

Do you by any chance remember how long you spent in hospital and how long until you could drive? :) xxx

Yes went in Tues at 7am, took down for op at 9am back in my room and awake around 1pm. Left hospital about 6pm on the Thursday . I haven't driven yet as the guideline is when you feel ready to do an emergency stop. After my diagnostic lap it was 2.5weeks before I drove xxxxx
