How long

Hi everyone, can you tell me how long it might take to be seen by a specialist in the UK? I am living in Ireland and there are no endometriosis centres. Thanks! :)

Hello ☺️

In the U.K. From the time my doctor had referred me to the consultant my first appointment took 3 months to come through after that it was another 4 months for the first surgery...I only know that far as I decided to go privately (my partner had health insurance with work!) but kept getting letters sent through about it. It is quite lengthy as I believe the Drs are in demand.

I hope this helps...good luck xx

Thanks for your reply! :) okay so privately is quicker there?! I waited 9 months here in Ireland just to see a gynaecologist who did a scan and told me I don't have endometriosis but "could develop it as I get older", but I've suffered for 7 years now and I'm thinking of coming to UK as you actually have specialist centers...we have none! It's shocking. Hoping to get British passport so I could even just talk to a doctor there! Thanks for your input! X

It took me around 6 months from going to the doctors with my concerns and her referring me to my gynaecologist to having my operation :) xo

Hi there,

I'm from Ireland also - very new to this site and I came across your post OMG I have been thinking about going to the UK also,

can I ask how you got on - where you went and how it works?

I would really appreciate it - my mam and my older sister have both had endometriosis my mam also had ovarian cancer, I'm not doing so well at all tbh, I'm not sure what is going on with me - but a BM causes shooting pains up inside me, to the point where I feel like I'm going to pass out! I'm now having difficulty with walking any distance, as the pain is traveling down my legs

How did you get on?

Thank you

I was actually born in Birmingham in Solihull - I have an Irish passport but my birth certificate is English - would that make any difference🤔?

Any advice would be most helpful ✌
