Mirena coil and endo

Hey girls . I had the mirena coil fitted today . Was a bit uncomfortable but apparently it will help slow down the growth of the endo. Yet I read a possible side effect is ovarian cysts which I have only just managed to get rid of through laparoscopy 😞 Is there anyway I can avoid ovarian cysts from re-occurring x

Dont know if this helps, but I had one inserted in a lap to remove a ovary Cyst and diagnose my endo. I had it in 5 months and didnt get any new cysts develop. I hope the coil works for you X

This has filled me with so much confidence ! Do you still have it now? Also how long after your op did it take to have absolutely no pain ? X

No I had it removed at 5 months. After5 weeks heavy bleeding it then worked beautifully in stopping my periods, but I had daily mild pelvic pain and eventually established it was not due to having a lap but due to the coil not settling / irritating the location of my removed endo cyst. So unfortunately I had to remove it.

It's a shame as hormonally it worked well and is the only thing I've tried that did.

Good luck with yours.
