Prostrap
Hi M sorry I can't. Although I am going for a 2nd Lap next month and the consultant had suggested this for me too before our next cycle. Previously had 2, 2 blasts transferred each time but both ended in MC x
I'm on my 3rd course of Prostap and suffer no side effects, only benefits in reduced pain xxx
The side effects are variable by person but can be quite tough. Do ask for tibilone get to take the edge off if you are anxious.
I had zoladex and did not react well and had to discontinue treatment. For many women though it helps massively with the pain. All you can do is try it.
The first month will be tough as you get a hormone surge before you go into menopause so be prepared for things to get worse before they get better. I have had 2 courses - both times I had headaches and joint pain especially in my hands and feet in the first few weeks, but this did stop. Once the menopause kicked in I had hot flushes and night sweats. Didn't gain weight the first time round but did gain weight the second though I had the two courses quite close together and I'd also had 2 surgeries in under a year and I think my body had just had enough. I've had it with and without HRT addback (tibolone). With the HRT I continued to have periods and pain. Without it the menopause symptoms were more severe but my periods did stop (though I still had pain).
hi. How you feeling today? What stage of endometriosis do you have?
I had my third prostap injection yesterday and other than the occasional hot flush it's been brilliant for me, I only got diagnosed with Endo in September 16 after emergency surgery for appendicitis but it turned out to be a ruptured chocolate cyst. Been in alot of pain since as it couldn't be removed by the surgeon it was beyond her expertise. I had surgery again in may and it was worse than expected so the specialist said I needed to have a three month course of prostap to let my body heal abit. We have been trying for another baby for the last 5 years and he's said ivf is are only option and this is giving us time to think about it as it's all come out of the blue and been very challenging both physically and emotionally.
everyone's body reacts differently to these things and I feel very fortunate that my body has just got on with it. I have been recovering from surgery at the same time and I've been resting alot and eating well which the nurse said has probably helped as I've not been over doing it with the general busy business of life!
good luck with and i hope your ivf cycle is successful.
xx
Sleep with a frozen hot water bottle !!!!
Hi Mayaudrey, I've had prostap twice, the most recent being for three months from Feb-April. I found it absolutely fine this time, minimal side effects but definite benefits. Everyone is different of course but I hope that's the case for you. I reckon drinking lots of water helps xx
Personally I would highly recommend to not proceed. I had a 6 month treatment on prostrap. Left me with 0 oestrogen in my body, terrible flushes and memory loss, arthritis down my spine and very depressed with really bad hormone swings. I refused my last course and didn't allow them to put me back on it. I hope that you are well and whatever course you choose works out well for you..
