I've recently been to see a gynaecologist he's recommended me to have a laparoscopy and it's booked for the 12th September he reckons I may have endometriosis,
I just wouldn't if anyone could help with some advice with going in for a laparoscopy? And if it's endometriosis?
Thank you 😘

In the meantime here is some information about endometriosis but if you would like to talk it through with someone, our volunteers on the helpline would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Hello. IF they find endometriosis hopefully they'll remove it (excision) if you're not on any hormonal treatment they may insert a IUD (but only if you've asked for it) if no IUD then I think they may get you try hormonal treatments which would slow the growth rate and shrink any endo.
For the operation you'll need the normal op prep bag which would include a dressing gown to keep you warm while waiting, slippers anything books or your phone to keep you occupied while hanging around, fresh undies and sanitary towels as you'll more likely bleed after the operation. I'd recommend not wearing body control leggings for after the operation "learnt that lesson" jogging bottoms are comfy when you got a swollen stomach. Some people get gas pain in the shoulder after a operation and I'd recommend peppermint tea and a hot water bottle also walking round when you can will help shift the gas too. I find sleeping slightly raised is easier when getting out of bed as you can feel a little tender and stiff for a few days.
Going in for your first lap is pretty daunting so I understand your jitters! With Endo being so hidden and the only way of knowing for sure being the lapropsopy it can some times be a relief having that final diagnosis, finally having an answer as to why you have been having all these symptoms.
Like Lovisa said below, take comfy loose fitting clothes and books to read in case you are waiting a while. Fingers crossed everything goes well for you and I hope this has put your mind at ease a bit. Before you know it you'll be awake and will hopefully have some answers
