I.ve been on cerazette for 10 years. Doctors have said there are risks to stay on it for to long and are advising the coil. Have had the laparoscopy 4 times. Hysterectomy is a last resort. Has anyone else been advised this please

It's probably worth a go. You will have 4-6 weeks of non stop bleeding then if you are one them of the lucky third your periods stop altogether. About a third get random spotting and a third are unchanged.

Like all hormone treatments it works for some and not others.

Mine worked in that my periods stopped altogether which was bliss. But unfortunately it did cause minor pelvic pain so in the end it wasn't a good trade of for me but I get little pain to start with.

Hi, I only got a few of days of bleeding after my first Mirena coil. But I did get nasty cramps for a while after. If you haven't had children, I think it takes a little while for your body to get used to having something in there. I persisted (out of desperation) and it wore off. Six months later, no periods and very little pain. I had 10 good years from the Mirena. It's now not enough anymore, but I think that's due to the hormonal changes of menopause.

I had the mirena inserted on my 4th op. My first period after was bad and my periods didnt stop completely (as I had expected) until about a year after but even then the pain was considerably less. Mine lasted about 4 years and last year I had it replaced. My quality of life improved considerably and I would advise anyone to give it a go.
