Feel at a loss

Hi,

After trying for several days I now know the results of my MRI scan as the nurse rang me and says it doesn't show anything apart from a raised ligament.

This makes me feel really sad although I should be happy, I'm still in pain, feel sick and bleeding. I said when I go to see consultant on 8 August I guess I will be discharged, the nurse said if there is nothing to treat it is likely I will

Please help

Hi. How are you feeling? When I had an MRI it showed up the cysts they knew about but nothing else was picked up by the bsge centre specialist. However I had a lap nearly 5weeks ago and he said that the MRI didn't match up to the mess I was in and he said even though he knows exactly what to look for he'd not found anything on the scan to indicate what was going on inside me, even checking it after the op he said it just didn't show up. Don't be fobbed off you know your body and the pain you are in.

Have you tried diet to help with the pain?

Best of luck xx

Have you had a diagnostic laparoscopy? It's the only way to diagnose endometriosis properly. If not i would push for it to be done, there is no reason not to.

Hi both,

I go to see consultant in August she said when I saw her at beg of June if my scan was clear there would be no reason for a lap and just refer me to the pain clinic. She said at my young age (29) 30 in Sept it's risky to do surgery

I had my lap done when i was 23 years old. I find it strange that they don't want to do it. Laparoscopy us the least invasive form of surgery. You can have it done and go home within few hours.

If used for diagnostic purposes nothing inside you would be touched as only a camera is inserted trough your belly button. I would ask for a second opinion if you have that option. Maybe pay for a private consultation if you can afford it.

Ps. Sometimes you can have very mild endo and strong pain, some people have advanced endo and no pain. It is possible that you may have hardly any endo that would not show up on mri and still experience severe pain.

I would request another consultant, an MRI will not show endometriosis unless you have deep infiltrating endo or cysts and you don't need either of those to have endo equally how much there is doesn't relate to how much pain you are in. I had my first lap at 19 and second at 22 at that time they found endo but my scans were clear. don't let them push you away. I hope you get some help
