I hope you are all well! I just had my pre op appointment and wanted to know why they do a full blood count Test, I never had that test done when I had my first lap back in jan. If the tests show I'm anemic will this change anything with having a lap done? Also I'm from Berkshire how long is the waiting list usually? Last time there was a cancellation so I got my lap a month after the pre op

If you've not had a full blood count recently then they will request, its to see if there is any increased risk factors for bleeding during surgery (for example thrombocytopenia which reduces your bloods ability to clot or being anaemic) it shouldn't change your lap just they will make sure they are extra prepared (e.g. Making sure they have blood on standby)
Hey thank you for the reply, I was a bit put out when she said about the blood count In the past I've found I was anemic and was worried if that would affect the operation 😬
I am in Berkshire too. I was put on the list for laparoscopy on 14th Feb 2017 and had it on the 22nd June 2017. This was at Wexham Hospital. Full blood counts are a pretty usual test to have. I work in NHS not as a clinician but it is pretty much a daily occurrence for patients to have these for a variety of reasons.
My ops happening in the same hospital, last time I didn't have to wait that long just incredibly nervous about the whole scenario and want this to be over already 😬
