Has anyone had the mirena put in during your period. I'm a bit concerned because 3 weeks ago I came off the mini pill, it was making me crazy, now I gotta have the mirena put in. The thing is my body is all outta whack and I do t know when I'm due on since being on the pill. I'm worried that it will happen when I'm due to have my coil inserted.
will this be okay?
Cheers
Xx

Hi, I'm no medical professional but the mirena coil is progesterone, same as the mini pill. I wouldn't want that in if I couldn't tolerate the pill, even if it's releasing into a different place. I had a copper iud put in, and it was quite painful, but I've actually read it's supposed to be less so if your on your period or ovulating as the cervix is softer? I could be wrong. Good luck with it x
Thank u. I also had the copper post endo diagnosis and it made my symptoms worse. The gyne really would like me to try it next to see if it helps. I suppose I'll see
Hello. I have had the marina coil in 3 months ago whilst in surgery and I hate it. I still get all the symptoms I did before but on top of that it's set me back into depression. I am now back on medication for depression as my GP said she's not going to do anything, I have to wait and raise the issue with the specialist in July 😕
Hi. I had the mirena coil in post lap , and it was awful! It lasted 3 months purely because they kept advising to wait and it will settle down. I didn't stop bleeding the whole time and still had a lot of discomfort. I'm not saying it doesn't help some but just a warning
In terms of timing for the mirena they say it should be fitted within 7 days of your period , but that's more in terms of providing protection they can fit it any time it just won't be effective straight away from preventing pregnancy. Timing of cycle was never factored when I had mine it was just based on surgery date
