So...been suffering for the last 4 months with what I thought was endometriosis. I had all the symptoms....heavy/clot bleeding, menstrual and ovulation pains. All blood tests came back fine. I couldn't put up with the pain and bleeding for any longer so after reading every page and forum and started taking progesten only contraception a little over 2 weeks ago and within 3 days the bleeding and pain stopped.....phew!!!
Just been for ultrasound and transvaginal scan and everything looks ok.Nothing out of place or to be concerned about. Except I have a thin uterine wall. Sonograoher says my symptoms may have been all hormonal (I had implanon implant in for 10 years then went on the pill. Within this time had not one period. Stopped taking the pill and endo symptoms began).
Anyone had anything similar? Will be playing over it all until I get to see my gp or go to my gynae referral appointment the end of May.

Hi, Endometriosis cannot be seen on scans my lovely. They'd only be able to see bigger things like cysts. A laparoscopy is the only thing to diagnose Endo. Scans never showed anything for me yet I had stage 4 severe endo and my bowel, bladder, womb, ovaries, tubes (the lot!) were all stuck together. It caused me many problems so I had to have excision surgery. If your pain and problems are managed by the pill you may wish to J st continue it's that as surgery isn't right for everyone. I think it's good you have a gynae appointment. They'll be able to talk through options with you if they suspect endometriosis. Good luck.xx
As already said scans will not identify endo, only cysts etc. Only was to diagnose endo is via laparoscopy. No offence to the sonography, but she/he isn't a dr qualified to advise in such a way! Insist on further investigation if you're still having symptoms.
I was put on the pill at 19 and all it did was mask my symptoms. 15 years later my abdomen was ravaged by endo and 21 years later I've had a hysterectomy due to the symptoms and damage caused.
I agree with all that has been said. A clear ultrasound does not rule out endometriosis. I lost track of how many clear scans I had before paying privately for a lap. The consultant told me he would eat his hat if I had endometriosis as I was too young. He had to eat that hat.
Push for a laparoscopy that is the only way to definitively diagnose or rule out endometriosis. But make sure you don't have a general gynaecologist to do it as they can miss subtle endo lesions.
I agree with what's been said. I had an ultrasound and nothing was found. Only when I had my laproscopy they found the endo and the extent of it. Make sure you go to a specialist clinic for endo. Good luck x
Hey! I'm curious - which blood tests did you have that came back clear? I have my first ultrasound tomorrow (internal). Don't have much faith in its value to be honest - my mum had endometriosis and I have pretty much all of the signs. Sort of wish they'd not beat around the bush and just get to it but suppose it's a hoop we need to jump through 😤
