why didn't they just remove it there and then and fix the womb back to its normal position?
is stage 1 just treated with the pill???

Are you under a BSGE centre or a general gynae?
I was told for my first lap that if they found endo they would remove it, if it was possible. What did you agree to/discuss beforehand? I gave consent for excision - as it turns out I had stage 4 on my POD, US ligaments and bowel so was referred to a specialist surgeon as they did not have the time or expertise to remove it.
There are a whole host of options for managing endo, which should have been discussed with you.

I didn't know the surgeon that done it I met her on the day, when I told her my uterus had tipped with no cause she said she would try and fix it if she could but it was only a diagnostic, as I'd had a lap 3years ago which was clear I wasn't expecting it to be found at all, so when I woke up the nurse said that they found the endo in the pod and it was sticking the uterus down and said the surgeon would be in to speak to me but I was discharged and told to go the follow up to discuss further but that's not until June x
You could try to contact the Surgeons secretary to clarify what happened? It must be difficult being told to wait until June. In the meantime I would write down all the questions you have.
You can check for your local BSGE centres online.
To be honest I had the same with my first lap, they basically woke me up told me it was a car crash and sent me home until my follow up. Thankfully, when I was referred to a specialist it was much better.I got the answers I needed as well as formulating a treatment plan.
I opted for surgery due to the extent of my endo and the symptoms which I was having. There are also options such as hormone therapy such as the pill which can reduce symptoms or drugs which effectively put you in to menopause. Personally, the pill was useless for me and I hated the idea of temporary menopause. Plus this would not get rid of my endo. If it is not symptomatic or you don't have many symptoms you can see how it progresses or use painkiller/NSAID's. You should be able to discuss all this at your follow up.
