I'm new here so please bear with me. I'm currently recovering from a laparoscopy just five days ago. I've been so down and depressed since finding out a large section of my left fallopian tube is missing. I've been having severe pain near my left hip for years and although the doctor said there's no endometriosis I'm not sure. Me and my husband are ttc our first baby and at 38 it's so hard to stay positive. Has anyone got success stories or advice? I just feel so weak and depressed that I've halved my chances. Thanks all.

Really sorry to hear that - what a shock for you. Have you been given any advice about what to do next? Is the other fallopian tube ok? Sorry don't have any specific advice, but when I was trying to conceive, I found out after two years of trying that I had severe endometriosis, which was a complete shock as I'd never had horrific periods (bad, but bearable). We had IVF twice and were incredibly lucky as it worked both times and I have two daughters. Really hope you're as lucky. Xxx
Hi Jenny8 the other tube is clear "for now" which makes me think why would it block up again? We're going to keep trying for now and save for IVF. We've been trying for over 2 years which technically I suppose is 1?! Just feeling so frustrated as I knew something was wrong and they didn't listen. No advice as yet, next appointment is June! Going to see my own doctor asap though. Was there any treatment for your endo? Did your pain go away?
Did they remove the tube? It does sound as if the Dr isn't a specialist. (I had this experience too, appendix removed and endo elsewhere just left.)
You need to push for the diagnosis.
If you have been TTC for more than six months I would try and push for fertility treatment if that is a route you could cope with taking. The cut off for funding is 40 in my area and I've just been refused funding despite me getting the referral in at 39. (I waited 5 months for my first appointment and have just turned 40.)
I say this not to alarm you but to make you aware. Your local authority may have different rules on funding. Get some further information and it will help you decide. X
Hi Starstellar7 not sure if he was a specialist, just the surgeon doing my laparoscopy. Unfortunately the cut off here is 35 so I'm past that. Hence now saving for IVF. I figure if I reduce my Bmi as I'm a bit overweight and keep up with regular excersize and healthy eating that could improve my ewcm and overall egg health. Plus I want to be ready for a little bean! Have you had IVF now? Did your endo have an affect?
Hi lovely I had my left tube removed December 2014 and was told I had severe endometriosis. I had further surgery December 2015 to excise the endo. We have since had 1 round of IVF which we did get a BFP on but miscarried. My consultant told us having a tube removed will reduce chance of a normal conception by about 30%, as the other tube can collect eggs from the ovary! So not all bad news but may take a little longer than if you had both tubes still. I felt very down after both ops I think it's a lot to go through so give yourself a bit of time and be kind to yourself. I would seek a referral for IVF if you've been trying more than six months xxxx
Hi all, so I've got my consultation in June. I'm nervous as I think he's going to suggest ivf which we just can't afford right now. So if we save up for it - it's more time "wasted". I did read that if we do have ivf the chances are still the same due to the process of it though.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to expect from the consultation after my laparoscopy really?
