Hi SophP sorry to hear you are suffering. 4 weeks is still early days, however were you treated by a general gynae or by a BSGE accredited surgeon in a specialist centre? The difference being general gynaes often miss deeper endometriosis, as they do not have the addition training of an accredited surgeon. Did your surgeon explain where they looked? If not you should now be able to get a copy of the post op report from your gp, there may be a charge. This will tell you whether they looked at your reproductive organs only ( for example) or did a full exploration of your diaphram, kidneys, ureters, bowel, pouch if douglas etc.
Can you explain your symptoms? Do you have pain during after sex? Pain turning over in bed? Where is your pain?
Hello, thank you for your reply. I was seen by a consultant that specialised in cancer of the reproductive organs but also performed diagnostic laparoscopies. I will request a copy of the report as you say, I don't mind paying. It just feels like I'm back to square 1.
My symptoms are severe pain which if you were to ask where I'd say back passage! I also get deep back ache and was having pain during sex but since the laparoscopy that's eased.
I will probably go back to the GP. I only have pain when on period.
I bet you do feel back to square one. You need to be referred to a bsge.org.uk centre click on the link and research your nearest centre. Pain during sex, in your rectum and the back ache you have point towards having Endo deeper than only on your uterus. Click on this ladies name and look at her posts on uterosacral ligament endo and her other posts to see if you can identify with it Lindle . It is recommended under NICE guidelines that you are seen by a BSGE specialist-it is your right and your gp can refer you.
The facebook page EndoRevisited is another great source of support and information if you're not a member already I am sure Lindle will put the link on for you, it is a closed group x
Hi. As already suggested get the report from your lap. Do you have a follow up appt scheduled? This will give you a chance to highlight concerns and ask questions. But 4 weeks post-lap is still early days it can take 3 months for your cycle to settle and the full effects of the lap to be felt. Remember your external scars may look healed but healing inside takes longer. i am 8 weeks post lap only this week feel back to full fitness and able to exercise without after effects of severe pain. Give yourself time, and do follow up with professionals. Take care.
As others have said, it's early days. I had a laparoscopy in October. My first period was two weeks after the op and was AGONY! The next one was also pretty painful and I felt really miserable having put myself through the op etc, it didn't seem to have made any difference. My third period was MUCH better though. Give your body a little time to settle.
