Its not as bad as you think it will be they can even give you a spinal block before surgery which really helps, i was up and about the morning after just extremely tired really quickly. Listen to your body and allow all the help that is offered.
Good luck to you, Im sure they will keep your meds up so you will be fine. Remember it's the start of a new life for you, and I wish you a speedy recovery. just don't be afraid to ask for help! X
Good luck. Ask for an epidural with the General anaesthetic if you can - did wonders for me when I had my hyster.
I can't take morphine as too sick - if you can you'll have a line in your arm that you control when you have morphine.
I had liquid paracetamol - marvellous stuff.
And the pain after is really not that bad. Just don't over do it and rest as much as you can. It is major surgery and you need that 6 to 8 weeks to recover
Take a look at hysterectomy associations website - lots of help and support there
Good luck! Had mine in Feb this year. Six months later and I am feeling well despite complications. About to go on my Concept 4.2 rowing machine for the first time post surgery. I can do this because I took my time and really looked after myself post surgery - no lifting, pushing, twisting etc! I didn't even walk my dogs as my boy will pull on the lead. So take great care of yourself. Build up to doing lovely walks, eat well etc. The time will pass quite quickly.
Best of luck hun.... the waiting is awful. Again I am up at daft o'clock worrying x
Hi its Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) if yoo,ve still got your phone on, of course you will be dosed up with pain relief in recovery before you are moved to a Ward. Staff on wards won,t take patients in pain so not to worry, you will have been injected with loads in theatre too.. Don,t think "pain" think "its all over now" on your way to a better life! Good Luck you are in my thoughts today.
Hi nurse Gladys Emanuel my op is Thursday. My mistake I forgot to put what date and only put down the time. I will ask about this pain relief thank you.
I am up again at daft o'clock. Worried sick as per usual.
Can u ask you something...
I have been on prostap injections for 6months I have been off them now for a few weeks. My bones feel so frail and every move is painful is this normal. I feel like a 90 yr old in a 40yr old body x
I too was really worried about the pain on waking up.
I went in on the Tuesday afternoon was out of theatre around 6pm, I did feel nauseous during the night.
Next morning (Wednesday)I had breakfast & had my catheter out then my drain was taken out - that isn't as bad either I didn't even feel it. So was walking around with the support of my drip
Thursday morning I showered and went home on the afternoon.
The pain is not as bad as you imagine.
As most people have said rest is the key.I have a good network of family and friends to hoover etc for me - it's more frustrating as you are feeling better in your self but you still can't do some things.
I'm still waiting for my menopause symptoms as I was plunged straight into a surgical menopause.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I will rest and glad your op was all worth it too.
I will be definitly take a lead out of your book. They say surgical menopause is worse then ever... I've been on hrt for 7 months now... the hot sweats are dreadful. Thank you for your reply lovely I will keep in touch with everyone x
