Good morning ladies ,

I am very new to this side so not sure how it all works ... I am looking for a place where I could get some advice ... Support maybe ??

I have been suffering of endometriosis for nearly 10 years , symptoms are getting worse and worse , don't know how much will I have left inside me to keep going this way ...with so much pain , hot flushes , excessive sweating , leg and hip pain , ovaries pain , extremely heavy - irregular periods , etc ... My Gynecologist recommends double hysterectomy ... Did anybody have it done ? Could me please tell me your experiences ?? Recovery ?? Was it worth it ??

My mum had this done as she had Endo and Fibroids. Her recovery was about 6 weeks I think off the top of my head but she said it was the BEST thing she ever did. She really suffered before but now she is fine. She wished she had done it sooner (well, not before giving birth to me obvs!)

Thank you so much . That's what I've been hearing about it but reading more detailed informations give me chills ... Can't sort of wrap my head around it . Under the circumstances I think I am very lucky as well as I do have two children already but getting real tired of constant pain and not being able to fully participate in my children's life ..

Yeah my mum was in that stage. She had 2 kids me and my sister and wasn't planning on anymore so she sort of realised what was stopping her. Said it was just brilliant. The recuperation is long but she said it was completely worth it. She's so much better now!!

What is a double hysterectomy???

If you have endometreosis and are having a hysterectomy for that, you must make sure your surgeon is a bsge specialist and also thoroughly excising all endo too, I had a total hysterectomy and excision of endo by a general gyne and I'm still in endo pain, and am now awaiting nother laparoscopy ,

If you're having hyster for endo then you'll likely to have ovaries removed too. As others said its not a cure for endo but can help some symptoms. Make sure BSGE specialist so that they remove endo at same time.

I had what's referred to as TAH and BSO (uterus, cervix and ovaries removed by incision) but not by BSGE specialist so had to have follow up lap. Was on HRT but it made endo come back so pain constant. Waiting next op but with BSGE clinic now I know about them.

Take a look at hysterectomy association website for more help and info on recovery and just general advice on hyster. It's brilliant and forums on there got me through.
