What is the difference between PID and endometriosis? Would they both look similar? And would the symptoms be similar? Is it possible to have both at the same time?

Thanku xxx

Hi there, pid is actually an infection that effects the reproductive symptom. It needs to be treated with a heavy dose of antibiotics otherwise it can cause long term problems. I was an endo sufferer but as a result of an infection I got during my csection I also developed chronic pid. For me, the symptoms of pid were quite extreme. Horrendous abdominal pain and a feeling of pressure on my vagina and rectum (It was so bad that I thought my uterus was going to fall out) and I always had a fever. I know however that this is not always the case with other woman and you can have pid without any noticeable symptoms. My endo symptoms were there all of the time and always worse around my period whereas the pid symptoms would start to brew over a few days and within a week i would deteriorate to the point that I was then rushed into hospital and on iv antibiotics. What sort of symptoms are you having? X

Hiya thanx for the reply xx

I had an infection after having the mirena coil fitted - I contacted the place where I had it fitted the same day due to severe cramping - I was told it was normal for the first few months after several visits to my GP I finally had the coil checked by emergency gynaecology and I was told the coil was incorrectly placed situated close to the cervix and that the coil had tore me a bit. They also told me I had an infected pelvis which I was prescribed 2 lots of antibiotics for. I asked for a follow up appt after I finished the antibiotics but I was refused and told i wouldn't need a follow up as the antibiotics would have treated the infection despite me being in constant pelvic pain. Again after seeing my GP several times i had a referral to gynaecology - they said that they would need to a diagnostic lap to determine the cause of my pain. After the lap it was confirmed I had endometriosis - 2 more laps later the last one being a hysterectomy I feel like my pain has progressively got worse. This all started 4 years ago😞 xxx
