UTI's and Thrush

Does anyone else get UTI's and Thrush a lot? I've never had either before this year but now it seems I get them every month.

I've been instructed to take cranberry pills (I've been drinking 2-3 cups of cranberry juice a day but it isn't working).

my GP has given me a load of fluconazole so i can take one tablet when i start getting symptoms of Thrush as i was getting this regularly. you can buy over the counter stuff to treat thrush but i found it got very expensive!

luckily my reoccuring UTIs have calmed down but i would reccommend seeing your GP as there are treatment options that you can use longer term.

good luck x

Pre lap I got thrush every month for years it hasn't been as bad. I have endo on my bladder and when I'm stressed I have found I get uti symptoms, my urine gets checked everytime and it comes back clear yet the anti biotics work straightaway and clear the symptoms up.

Hi

I used to get very bad uti's so was referred to urology and had a cystoscopy (I hope that's the right spelling basically camera up the bladder)since then it's been a lot better sometimes it's internal and if it's not treated it will keep coming back. There is a site Kathryn marsden and she has a really interesting piece on uti's it might be worth a read she has some really good advice.

My doctor won't refer me for anything but physio because she says it's probably just the endo (which my gyn won't do a diagnostic lap for) so I was told to drink cranberry juice. I feel stuck doctor wise.

You need to insist on a referral it's not down to your doctor to decide what is causing the thrush I was told if you have regular uti's it needs further investigation (I know it's hard to be pushy with doctors but you need this sorted ) good luck.

I've tried being pushy but she keeps saying its endo since when they did blood work everything came back normal but high hemoglobin and my urine tests will have a low acid level but no bacteria so they'll tell me to stop taking the antibiotics.

Well I would say that not having antibiotics is probably a good thing over use can be a bad thing it might be a good thing to try a good probiotic I know some are supposed to helpful to the bladder also you can buy cranberry capsules which are much better than the juice which can have a lot of sugar in it.I really hope that you find something that works for you.

I never had thrush until my 3rd pregnancy where I had it like every 2 weeks the whole way through! That was 6 years ago and I still get it 2-3 times a year normally along with a urine infection either before or after it! I haven't thought about whether it's connected or not I normally just buy over the counter stuff and don't go to the doctors unless I need antibiotics for the uti.
