Quick question because I can't seem to find a straight forward answer, are endometriosis and cystitis linked? I seem to get cystitis when I'm due on and then shortly after I've come off.
Also, any tips on how to ease it? I'm drinking plenty of fluids (especially cranberry juice) but nothing seems to ease the symptoms.
Thanks

cystitis is usually caused by bacteria along the urethra which shouldn't be there.
I guess I can be linked to endometriosis as that causes an imbalance of hormones and thus can upset the natural bacteria.
Perhaps see your GP as you may need to have swabs to check if it's that bacteria or something else, and may need antibiotics. A pharmacy may be your first option as they have over the counter cystitis sachets that balance out your urine pH and usually you take them for three days. It does say on the packet to see your doctor if that doesn't sort the symptoms.
Things that helped me - but mine wasn't caused by endo;
weeing after sex (or being intimate, or using toys / tampons etc - to wash out bacteria before they establish themselves
don't over wash - our bodies produce their own natural cleaners - if you do feel like you need to wash then perhaps get a specific cleaner - I use canesfresh.
drink lots of fluids - you say you're doing that which is great - be careful of sweenters and added sugars - these can upset the pH levels there - I think you can get cranberry tablets / capsules I've not tried them but they may help.
avoid overly acidic drinks and fizzy drinks including alcohol - i found these can make the symptoms worse
Thanks for your reply. I think I'll ask my specialist at my next appointment as this is the 3rd period in a row where I've had bladder problems before and after my period.
