Coil or not to coil

Before having my baby I had 10 months of prostap. I am absolutely gutted because my endometriosis has returned. My consultant thinks the coil is the next step before prostap again as prostap has such severe side effects. But I've read so many horror stories about the coil. I'm really struggling and don't know what to do!

Hi,

To risk sounding like a stuck record, sorry everyone who has seen me wax lyrical before about this - I had the Mirena for 10 years & it worked wonderfully for me. Had no bleeding after the settling in stage (couple of mths) & pain was reduced too.

The only downside for me personally was insertion/ removal & the immediate after math. This was difficult because I also have examination/procedure phobia.

Ultimately, its up to you & we are all individuals who respond differently but wanted to share a success story with you :)

All the best

Hi! Thanks so much for replying! My worry is it will take months until I get the benefits! What were the first few months like? What was it like after it was done? X

I remember the bleeding being insanely heavy with lots of clots, I rang up my Dr for advice & was reassured however. Seem to remember the 1st couple months being a challenge but it was almost 6 yrs ago it last went in so my memory is not that clear! Recently had the last one out, bled for a month with clots on removal this time.

Sounds horrendous!!! I'm just trying to weigh up my options. We want another baby next years nd all those side effects compared to what I'm like now seem worse!! Especially the bleeding and pain. I just wish there was a simple answer X

Mate if you want a baby next year then this may not be your best bet then cos it's designed to be in for 5yrs!

Seriously though it was incredible for me for 10 yrs & a few weeks of settling was nothing for 10 years pain & bleeding free! I'd happily pay that price all over again :)
