Hi ladies,

Just wondering how long you have been free from pain after having a laparoscopy and endo removed? Or how quick did endo come back?

Unfortunately I had my op in March had endo removed and this week feels like I'm having a flare up and it's all coming back!:( it felt good to be pain free for a few months though!

Thanks X

Aww sorry to hear that you have never been out of pain! Yeah the surgeon was great she excised it all and I got a DVD of it, mainly in the pouch of Douglas was at a bsge centre, the surgeon was a specialist in endo too. Just don't know what to do now... I felt great and now everything is back to how it was before. :( x

Hi, it's awful that we are so thankful of a moment pain free when it reality it should be like that. Unfortunately I have similar experiences, my pain and endo/cysts returned within a few months 😔 X

Awww no! Sorry to hear it returned so quick.. I thought I would feel great for a few years after... Didn't realise how quick it could return. I'm 24 and back to feeling like a old lady where everything is a struggle! back to taking pain killers and hot water bottle in bed, the tiredness I really don't miss! What else can we do? Just carry on managing with the daily pain?:( x

Maybe (thinking positively) your body is still recovering from the surgery and it'll things will settle down. It may not have returned yet but there may be some internal readjustment that is happening and causing you to feel discomfort. I'm trying to think of positives! What did the surgeons say about the return?

Hot water bottles work a treat, I used tramadol to sleep and when I really struggled I took codeine during the day. It's a nightmare. they told me pregnancy was the only temporary "cure" but I struggled for years to conceive too (pregnant now so pain free for a while!).

Do you have follow up appointments? X

Yeah that's a positive thought haha. They said i should be pain free for a while and to carry on taking the pill where I don't get a break. And have a follow up appoinment in 6 months with the endo nurse, I phoned today for a chat and ask about the appoinment and the nurse is going to phone me back. Awwww that's great that you got pregnant! Congratulations... I have heard that for some people it doesn't come back after pregnancy,..,. So fingers crossed! X

Indeed! Also I was offered injections to put me in fake menopause, I think someone else has mentioned this on here so there are options. None of them great or what you want ideally though. I hope it all works out for you and you get some relief at some point x

Yeah I was offered that after surgery, but I still want to try for children first! Thank you! Hope you stay pain free :) x

I was pain free from my lap at the end of April 2015 until end of December 2015 but I had Prostap from my lap until July so I think that helped delay its return. Even so I only had 8 months pain free - they were a good 8 months though. Due to have my second lap for excision and Mirena in August. X

Aww glad you got 8 months pain free! It feels great doesn't it!? You just become used to being in pain and forget what it feels like to be pain free! Awww good luck for the second lap. Hope you get longer than 8 months this time!:) X

Hi hunni :)

I had my endometriosis removed in may and symptoms came back 3 weeks later but worse than before, had my follow up with consultant and they've said everyone is different, some people can go years without reoccurrence and some people's come back quickly, varies from person to person really.

Xxx

I was just going to ask the same question when I saw your post. I had a laparoscopy in March to have all endo excised. I felt great for two and a half months - totally pain free and more energy than I have had for ages. I got my mirena replaced at the same time and was told to take the combined pill for three months to try to prevent/slow down recurrence. Unfortunately over the last few weeks my pain has gradually returned and I feel that familiar overwhelming exhaustion that I had before. I had really hoped to get a few years of benefit from the surgery but only got a few months. Don't know what the next step is. I think I have tried everything.
