Never ending....

Went back for my post op consultation, have adenomyosis, stage 3 and painful bladder syndrome . The consultant basically said I have two choices, to try coial, or depro ect but been there and done that yes thankfully stopped my periods but have always had the pelvic pain, leg ache and back ache. Then the other step is to go on prostap for 6 months so I would be going through a menopause them if that make me feel better then the answer would be a hysto. Ive just totally had enough at the moment and not sure what to do, 2 weeks after my laser and I still feel in the same pain as before!! Is anything going to help with the pain, fatigue, and worst of all back and leg ache...has anyone else tried prostap? Xx

Hi Sherryl, are you under the care of a specialist at a BSGE accredited center? Laser treatment hasn't got an amazing track record which is why you may still have pain, BSGE centers are now using excision surgery to treat severe endometriosis. Also I think Adeno causes far more pain than people realise and of course we all know the only cure for that :(

I haven't tried prostrap but start Zoladex injections tonight, like you I have adeno too and I hope it will calm everything down, I posted about this yesterday and all the ladies who have commented have been really positive about their experience with medical menopause may be worth a read.

Hope you are pain free soon xx

No at the moment I'm seeing a private gyne but think I'm going to ask my dr to refer me to a specialist centre. Just feeling down after 15 years of trying to be pain free and it's just never ending!! In my head I wanted a hysto to at least get rid of the adeno and then deal with the endo after but looks likes another 6 months of injections, I get her point that if these work then you know a hysto will help but I just want fixing now lol.. Sorry it's just one of those days x

Don't apologise, we all have those days, I had one recently too. Don't be too hard on yourself, we have been dealt a shitty hand in life and its ok to feel down sometimes we are all human, we can't be super hero's all the time xxx

Hi Hun please get that referral to a BSGE centre. You will be in much better hands . I had Zoladex for six months prior to hysterectomy (due to adenomyosis) BSO and excision on 3rd March. Endo and adeno pain all gone and fingers crossed the endo won't come back. But I'm starting to suspect I have ic too. As those symptoms have got worse since op. Good luck

Hi hunny, you are right in saying that a hysterectomy will cure any symptoms you have from adenomyosis, but like me, you can't be sure if it's the endo or adeno, if you get a hysterectomy you must also have a thorough excision job for your endo, in a bsge centre, I had a hysterectomy for adeno last July and I have Endo too, I'm still getting daily pain, I'm now under a bsge centre and am awaiting a date for my next op, I think my endo was missed as it is so often is general gyne private or not, makes no difference, prostap could clear all symtom s but that could be still the endo it's helping, I would get second opinion in a bsge centre, good luck xx

Is your pain as bad as before?

A little better, but not enough to have a better standard of life, I would get reffered straight away, other wise you are putting yourself in danger if having to have another op, a hysterectomy is a big deal and a major op. If you go to a bsge centre they can deal with it all, and you might find that excision will be enough, I wish I had done it now, but I can't go back, si now I'm in the situation that I'm still in pain 2 ops on and having to go through another with in 14 months, please go direct to a specialist, look up lindles posts, and she will help you if you need, xx

I have just emailed the bsge centre in Birmingham asking them if they would help me (think its the closest) then I will go back to my gp. You are totally right a quick fix as such isn't going to help, I need this dealing with properly. Thank you x

I have just wrote to my consultant asking to by pass the prostap and go for the hysto to at least cure the adeno. I will then go back to my dr and beg to be refered to a BSGE centre to deal with the endo. My insurance are willing to pay out for the hysto but might not in 6 months time, and if I can I would rather have it done in a little more comfort and when's best to fit around my family life and getting childcare ect. I just hope my gynaecologist doesn't think I'm trying to tell her how to do her job lol

Birmingham BSGE got back to me and would be more than happy to see me, just need the referal from the Dr, will take my email with me. Feeling so much better than this morning. The waiting list is around ten weeks, do you think I should start the prostap whilst I wait?

I'm 35 with two children and yes would love another BUT my pregnancies have been horrid and I don't have the energy to look after the two ive got to be honest, it wouldn't be fair to even think about having another x

Actually I had the prostrap the side effects were much easier to deal with than actual periods it does make you gain weight really easily though. The only thing I got was hot flushes.
