Stents

Hi I've just had my 4th operation for my endometriosis and this time my surgeon found out I had 3 kidneys, therefore I had 3 stents put in, they are slightly irritating and I have a job where I am on my feet all day. I just wandered if any body had any experiences with them and how they got through it. Thank you x

Wow 3 kidneys, I've not heard this before, is it common, did he remove endo?? How long are the stents in for?

I've never heard of it myself until now, apparently it's called a duplex kidney. The stents can only stay in for 6 months. She didn't manage to remove everything as she ran out of time due to the finding of the extra kidney so all will be finished off when she goes back in x

Is your surgeon a endo specialist at a bsge centre? Where was your endo found? X

She's a gynae and it always on the bladder, bowel, and sort of spread around the reproductive area

I had a stent for around a year (well it wasn't the same stent it got replaced a couple of times) but I can't imagine having 3, that must be pretty uncomfotable!! I'm afraid there isn't really any advice for getting through it other than you just do, because you have to. Just remind yourself that they will be coming out sometime soon, so this isn't forever. Also you have an extra kidney - which is pretty cool!! :)

He he, yea I know how lucky am I. Thank you for your honest answer. That is what I keep reminding myself. Thank you 😃 x

I had a stent (replaced every 6 months) for over 3 years in total. I found that after a week or 2 they didn't cause me an trouble and I forgot they existed... Until I got a UTI 😐

Just make sure you keep hydrated, DO NOT WAIT TO PEE (very important hence the capitals 😬), cut down/out salt, wipe front to back, all the usual advise really.

3 kidneys is kind cool and now I know where to come if my other kidney packs in!

Hope it feels better soon xx

Thank you xx
