Hey ive been taking co-codamol 30/500mg and Amitriptyline 25mg or 10mg.

I found taking the cocodamol on its own zoned me out and taking the Amitriptyline on its own made me a total zombie especially the 10mg but taking one of each both together (25mg and a cocodamol) actually seems to be more effective with less zombie side effects. But try taking it in the afternoon rather than morning as eventually you become sleepy.

Also I find this makes you less constipated than taking a co-codamol on its own.

hope that helps.

Same here i work in the mental health and need to be focused at all times.... i was prescribed pregabalin for the pain but i get so withdrawn so just kept to my zapain co codomol as they take the edge off

I've had to alter my career to fit in with my illness; as a criminologist, I used to work with a number of offenders and victims but have now relegated myself to only static research as I'm no longer able to go out and about like I used to....my current meds are:

DAILY

Tramadol: 100mg (2-4 per day)

Co-Codamol: 30/500mg (2-4 per day)

Naproxen: 200mg (2-4 per day)

Amitriptyline 25mg (1 per day)

Flouxetine 20mg (1 per day)

AS REQUIRED

Oramorph: 5mg - 10mg

Ibuprofen: 400mg - 800mg

Buscopan: 30mg - 60mg

Loperamide: 3mg

Know what you mean about being doped up; sometimes I'm lucky as I can work from home if I'm not able to drive in (or hubby takes me) but often I will stick out the pain so I can remain 'lucid'....!!

Sucks doesn't it...

in reply to

By the way, to help with constipation (which seems worse with co-codamol) I find eating cabbage, broccoli, green beans, etc. with lots of olive oil really helpful in keeping it from getting really bad; I am however half Greek and half Italian so it's in my diet anyway!

If you don't like olive oil, try a butter with it in (i.e. lurpack with olive oil, or bertolli with olive oil, etc.) as this 'lubricates' the intestines....honestly it makes a huge difference...!

Also, the ice-cream you get from the whippy machines - probably due to all the sugar but that makes me go no matter HOW many drugs I take!!

I work in mental health too. I take naproxen and over the counter codeine with paracetamol. I'm really sensitive to meds but this dose of codeine doesn't zone me out.
