Hi ladies. I have stage 4 Endo, mostly around the bowel. I will be having surgery in the next couple of months. I have been warned of a 6 week recovery time and certainly 6 off work. I was wondering if this is the experience that people have had. I was hoping that this is a very conservative indication, as I am super active and am anxious just thinking about being sedentary for this amount of time. Your thoughts and views would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Endo surgery - bowel resection.
Hi there
I had. A bowel resection in October along with ovary and tube removal and endo excised .I had 4 weeks off work which was enough for me and I have a very on the go job.
However it was the tiredness that really got me about six weeks it seemed to get better .everyone is different and only you will know when you are fit for work ,
All the best to you hope all goes well I don't regret having it done it was tough to begin with but all seems well now .
I'm waiting for similar surgery - removal of extensive stage 4 endo with adhesions and bowel involvement. They also told me I could be off for 6 weeks but that it depends on how I feel and I may be back sooner.
So I think the 6 week thing is a standard guess, and it depends on what you have done and whether there are any complications.
I've had 1 lap to drain my cyst, and was off for 2.5 weeks. I really couldn't have driven before that, but I wasn't sedentary, I could move about and got taken out for lunch a few times which was lovely.
I'm interested to hear other people's experiences too, as I'm wondering the same thing.
Good luck x
Hi,
I had bowel resection done in 2009, I had Endo inside my bowels and had adhesions wrapped around my bowels which made them twisted and blocked.
It took me nearly 2 years to recover from this operation, I had stage 4 Endo. Me nod you everyone is different and everyone recovers at a different rate. I had more problems after my first operation in 2009 I was in and out of hospital due to pain. I had problems eating solid foods and since then I'm still struggling with solid foods. Make sure you get advice on what foods you should eat after being discharged from the hospital. I didn't get any advice or proper aftercare.
Good luck with your operation, nhope everything goes well for you.
